In the library you can get mods.

But most mods was made form 2007 and lower and i found a few mods that was form 2008 and almos nothing for this year...

I dont mean there bad i am actually using some of em.

I wonder what hapened to the modders? There seem MUST less active there used to (if not completely stopped that is)

I am missing something or there a newer mod site or something?

A lot of the active GC2 modders are at www.i-mod-productions.com/ . They also host some newer mods themselves.

Don't worry, we're all actively developping our own stuff - some may prefer I-Mod (but, lately they've been having huge server problems) for different projects. I have a modyard overthere - none ever cared providing some help for both X-Worlds or CoSH.

There's MrKorx, DSep and there's AFRonin. There's JoeSchmo from Hawaii & coder X from Europe or Brazil. There's Macmatt & AggieJohn & SirNastyofTang & the list goes even longer. There's Empire champions X or Y & there's LogicSequence obsession with bigger & numerous pixels.

There's the fleet makers and there's the magic of GeneralPants that vanished.

There's also the will of the crowd or lack thereof; collaboration or shared credits included.

So, there - you have it. Compendium of SuperHeroes barely last December after a year of punishment for using Actors photographic bazillions over unidentified artist poverty, free.

HERE is where the real action is (look around and dig a little) and there is a very good reason why; StarDock own branding.

Modding for GC2 is a tough perspective though if only because how rare & sparse the documented gameplay code is. You gotta be extremely lucky to get a straight answer from devs about specific issues. You must go through hundreds of posts to gain some knowledge. You need good programming skills and be xml fluent. Don't start me on the DirectX modeling standard, cuz that's exactly where amateurs & professionals collide if only for a Discreet'3dStudioMax purchase of 4000$ and counting. You could master C++ or some high-level language other than socialization in the local community catinas. You even are thinking this isn't enough.

Like every other games, it's timing and the silly rule of lack of interests by players. Metaverse, btw... is a very good (if not smartly designed to maintain focus on the products as they are distributed) deterrant against modded assets. Customization is a bit more complex than everyone was to lead to believe more so since the TA editors were added to the second expansion -- 1.75 year ago.

Ask any remaining modders, they'll possibly think of them as "partially" completed. Thus, the intimidation cycle begins... dev teams are better than *us* and they're simply staring at our attempts. To the struggles when i coded Cobol declarations in '87 and beyond.

Yeah, well. Here's some news for SD employees, we are saving your jobs daily with every single KB we dump in your precious libraries for your customers to enjoy.

I hear the MMV (at I-Mod) might solve a few things -- for modders, and it's about time.

I'm up to version 06-A and i will some day reach a 1.0F -- too late for some beta testers of Dread Lords' taste or not.

One last thing, SD is somehow protective about their Copyrights. It complicates the dynamics even further.

People come & go - but some have legitimate ambitions. Check file dates for compatibility.

I'll be there if you need me.

I guess i will wait for the site to be fixed or something.

The mods form this site are kinda *out-dated* and there not very many of em.

Some category are totally empty X|

I knew moding is hard and take alot of time to do.(weeks or even mouths for making it/testing it and correct the bugs)

But wen i read your post i found out that there are many other thing to just make it even harder x_x

I dont know much about programing so i guess i am stuck for now...

Well...if someone find out anything about some other sites for mods for GC2 please tell me thanks !

Sleepwalke, why so dissatisfied?

There are a lot of good mods out there. And you don't even mention what you are looking for.

And by the way... it is spelled 'from' - not 'form'. And nothing in the site needs to be fixed.

Are you only interested in the dates of the mods, as opposed to the quality and scope? Sad.

I guess you are stuck - since you have no desire to do anything yourself, but to have everyone else do it for you. Why don't you devote some time to learn how to mod the game to your own liking?

And Zyx?

SD doesn't have to release any game code. All the modding is done through the XML files, which are plain to read and understand. They have a perfect right to define what is hard-coded and soft-coded. So live with both the restrictions, and the allowences.

"One last thing, SD is somehow protective about their Copyrights. It complicates the dynamics even further."

And why shouldn't they be? Just because they are probably the best customer oriented company on the planet - does that mean they should give up all rights to what they produce?

Your entire post just shows that you are just plain ignorant and arrogant.

I've found that GC2 is one of the easier games to do basic modding on. A lot of data is held in easy to understand and edit .xml files. Some of the graphics can be altered and changed rather easily. Using DesktopX for modding the .dxpack screens has a little more learning involved, but still can be overcome with a little reading, trial and error. There are some quirks to modding GC2 that you learn along the way and what all you can mod can be limiting at times, but it's all good :) .

I am unsure of the connection issues to IMod. I am in the middle of the US and have had no trouble connecting in a couple of weeks, so it must be hit or miss depending on your location and maybe ISP.

It seems to be located in the north-east. Zyxpsilon (who lives somewhere in Eastern Canada) and I (Ohio) were both experiencing problems, but they have since cleared up. As to where the modders are: a lot of us are involved in massive total-conversions (Zyx's X-Worlds, D-Sep's Bringers of Light, my Metroid: Federation) that take a lot of time and effort. Also, some of us (me included) cannot upload to the stardock library, and have stuff sitting on our desktop that we cannot publish. Try i-mod and GC2guide.com

Insults won't give much more sense to your reply either... but as long as you're entering the dangerous zone of my very limited patience -- i've never been the type of turning around from any challenge, be it silly or outright agressive, so;

Read carefully and you may just yet find out that the TASK of modding for GC2 requires specific knowledge that even the most ignorants have to obtain HERE, THERE or ANYWHERE. Not ALL modding is made through xml editing. Images of Races & their Logos, Modeling by meshes & texturing, text by str, context by imagination, alternative gameplay by concept, other files with many different extensions, etc  -- i'd say about 75%+ of the rest is completely kept **away** from anyone wishing to create rather than plagiarize (Copyright or not, btw). But you already knew that much, right?

The arrogance is not from my side, far form (yep, the same typo just so you could teach another person a stupid lesson in objectivity) it -- you idiot (rightfully deserved, btw) -- it simply stated truths & facts.

And, i'll just be kind_of polite, go find yourself another member to harass.

Can't you read, too?

A code has built-in mysteries by design that every modders i've ever had the chance to work with must solve in order to MOD the right way... even risking stepping on some devs toes, arms, hands & thick skulls & protected Copyright assets whatever precious both may be.

You've made yourself a clear enemy Moosetek13. Congrats, feel my wrath & vengeance from now on.

But that's what you've always wanted, isn't it?

To demean me as much as possible until i cracked your tough remarks and silly wiseass inserts in multiple threads from the past for all to witness. Don't make me hunt down for that truth about how you behaved towards people.

I'll be HERE if you want to pick another fight. Worth my time, i should add.

Last call - and, if Moderators want to lock this thread BECAUSE of you... i'll object until you start respecting what others write without the slightest ignorance or arrogance.

You've got a huge excuse to make to this community, AFAIC.

Oh, and one last extremely important thing... I have as many rights to warn or help Sleepwalke as anyone does, i'll let my own work in the library speak for itself since it IS the most recent of probably incompatible stuff burried under tons of items which had some value for new players. And proved this code can be altered, tweaked and fixed enough to DO better than i've had to endure for years.

At least - i update X-Worlds & CoSH, regularly. But i doubt you'll bother reading these also if only for a clear demonstration of my solid contributions to this wonderful game. Earn some respect than speak or otherwise, shut up or think before insulting me.

}:) <X3

Unedited, final. Move along.

Wow, i've got a visit to make overTHERE if only to determine how you managed to upscale what GeneralPants thought us all!

Still stuck with I-Mod flaw (Quebec, Bell, Sympatico, the whole www is under attack i s'pose!) and even Neilo in Australia had his fair share of troubles last week.

How can someone develop steadily with sooooo much interruptions.

Can you confirm if Cronk approved XW05F for the MMV?

I would hesitate to call it a scaling-up. It only has 10 components, which are the various atlas/driver/fortitude modules. Although I am thinking of expanding it...

How would people differentiate them from "active" or selected components, you may ask?

Here comes the ThumbNails series to the rescue, overthere at Drengin's best!

It's quite easy in fact, you'd simply want to edit the corresponding xml tag lines, then provide a graphic for any.

GeneralPants' (I've got HIS formal permission, btw) fake modules (available in XW06A, stopped in its tracks by Kryo because of the currently ILLEGAL StarWars-vs-StarTrek plagiarizing attempt and by the local Libraries still being down.) have such files already.

And even some fakes of TA backported to DA - with tags.

I made them S99_'s... but that's another ongoing discussion between Kryo and i.

And... the empty months you see above (Sleepwalke) since January'09 aren't there for nothing...

1- SD hasn't fixed the uploading flawed NET linker for weeks. But Bara is on it, i heard.

2- Kryo is a VERY busy man.

3- Developpers are getting Impulse Reactor ready for Ironclad's DemiGod MMO.

4- Elemental War of Magic beta starts THIS June.

5- We don't give others unstable or buggy MODS. Even if we try hard, it's complex.

6- BoL, is overdue. Sorry DSep - couldn't resist.

7- I-Mod-Productions.com is Offline. And Gerandor'X, well... nuf'said.

8- Get smart or lucky or patient.

Thanks for the thorough list, SoleSoul.

I'm working on a mod right now! O:) so wut ya complainin about?

except for the fact that its not working for some reason... right directory and everything! 8(|

I shouldn't be complaining though... probably just some really obvious thing I'm overlooking...

On a more serious note... SD didn't make everything in the game easy to mod... like lets say you want to make the sensor max range 30 instead of 15? or don't want a max sensor range at all? I don't think thats soft coded.

There are also scores of other things that can't be modded easily, like Zyx was saying.

Seven levels of Terraforming instead of 3, five steps of development for Extremes rather than 2, 2500 troops in a module, Repairing a ship in Space with a module Kit aboard, Planetary Quality PIs such as what TA offers but in DA, differently colored HardPoints (i just hate *THAT* Red!), Fog-Of-War non-brownish, 12 opponents selectable instead of 8... all things HardCoded.

Plenty more.

Go figure I figured out my problem! ^.^ but mine is a simpleton problem.

What if you want it to take a couple weeks before a spy arrives on the enemy planet? hard coded... (I think)
