My take on the current Wiget Battle..

or Why I'm paying for OD for 3 years and i'm just recently using it.

Let me start off with why I barley use DesktopX. It's not that it's a memory hog, it's not that it's too hard to use.
It's due to I NEVER SEE MY FREAKING DESKTOP. I'm on my computer as much as I can. When I'm
using it. I normaly play full screen games or Develop, surf.. etc.. Normaly I have a bunch of windows open
since it's a multi taking system. While the apps are open I have them maximised. I barley see my desktop.
But the reason I used Object Desktop was for ObjectBar. Application etc launcher from the side of the screen.
I always had access to it.

Now I have 5 monitors hooked up to a 2.8 computer at work. I have DesktopX, Windows Blinds, ObjectDock
Plus, and ObjectBar running. Runs GREAT. and with 5 monitors I can see my desktop again, so I got some note
proggie widget and the dogmaX cal running. What I like to do with desktopX since I'm not a graphics guru like
most people, is create "Text" objects and use them for Todo list's and Performance Monitoring of the servers.
VERY handy stuff , Since it's productive and not eye candy.

Well to each thier own as many have said. While I like eye candy as the next person, I take function over beauty.

DesktopX has overlays. It's not designed to rely on you seeing your desktop.

You create your desktop and treat it like an overlay. Then hit a hot key and pop up the widgets to top.

Also, try out the show hide. What I do here is that I hide all my widgets completely and then hit F10 to bring them up to top and hit F10 to hide them. I'll have to take a screenshot sometime of my "news" computer. It's just full of RSS feeds.

Problem was "F9" and "F10" are recent ( well with in the last major versions I think). I been watching DesktopX
since before it had scripting, and every major version to come out.. I play with it think it was cool and forget about it.
