Banned for moral authority.
Avatar was okay, but we got screwed out of the best scenes. I mean, we all knew he was going to be the one to tame the big predator, but they thought it might be a surprise, so then didn't show the actual fight to capture it in order to build suspense. That's bullshit. And the marines were a joke from beginning to end.
If Avatar just had no plot and a lot of logical inconsistencies, I might have jut ignored it. But no. He had to make it
technophobic...
And D9 was, to me at least, very novel in its mockumentary style, incredible grittiness, and unique (@ least from an American perspective) setting. What really got me, however, was the effort Blomkamp put into making a full, detailed world- both its surreal this-seems-exactly-like-reality-but-there-are-seven-foot-tall-bugs-running-around quality, and its interesting combination of depth and its tendency to at the same time load up on little details and leave so much to speculation.
