Banned because "its science fiction" is a null statement in that sort of discussion; it's a matter of taste in the end. Hence, the "made up a bunch of stuff and words off the top (sic) of their heads" thing is six of one, half-dozen of the other.

Phasers more ridiculous than light sabers? The Force more ridiculous than warp drive? Absolutely depends on who you ask.

banned because you're right, it's a matter of taste. The action sci-fi of Star Wars is fine and good, but I don't feel that it's worth following so closely. Of course, I only respect Star Trek up through DS9.

As for accuracy, there was a this guy with an insane IQ and he mentioned that Star Trek, for the technology and data available, hasn't been terribly inaccurate. He didn't get into a conversation about Star Wars, so I can't say anything about that.

Btw, I know how Anakin was conceived, or at least what they summize in the movie. They were guessing, ths could be dead wrong. That's still a virgin birth and as hard as anything to swallow. I know you're religious, so let me put it another way: Episode I made him into Jesus... then Ben Hurr... and bored me to death long before either.

Don't get me started on the Xer07 Skywalker that he grew up to be.

Banned because the red shirt thing is a joke, not a consistent plot/costuming element. Scotty wore a red shirt for most of the series and he lived long enough to do a guest appearance on TNG.

Banned for if you only count his time as matter, he outlived Kirk. If you count the time they were suspended as energy, I think Kirk just beats him.

And yes, it was a trope in the original and a joke later on. When I first saw Picard in red, I thought we were going to get a new captain every week.
