Zimbabwe is a prime example of a country that was once a contendor, but was mesed up due how good it was doing.
However in Barbados's case I think they showed it is possible. Barbados is a paradox in a good way. They have a small area, but many resources; limestone and oil. So they are less dependant on First World countries. However at the same time they built up a large sugar and tourism industry(two of the best in the world). Those are two industries heavily dependant on foreign interest. Yet it has worked becuase Barbados spent those monies on education. Education is free Barbados up tp the University level on the condition that once you are complete you must go to Barbados to work.
Honestly I just refuse to say this cannot happen becuase of someone other than or the people of our country.
Ok Alt. I dont know the specifics about Zimbabwe and Barbados, but what I said applies to all cases. If the most powerful nation in the world decides that you need to be wiped off of the map, or at least that you cant be allowed to develop, then they are gonna do so.
And I'm talking about poor countries here, dont start saying that X country and Y country cant be touched.
It doesnt really matter how dependant a 3rd world country is on 1st world countries.

I'm not religious, but I endorse what you said tip to tip cause at least you don't seem to be waiting for Christ to come down and take care of the stuff for you. So, with the blessing of whatever deity you prefer, may you go forth and kick much ass.
It doesnt matter whether someone is religious or not. The point is, that you always have to make stuff happen on your own, or at least have someone else do it for you. Its not like an angel or a Djinni will appear, and grant you a wish, lol.

Education sucks on all countries anyway, so it doesnt really matter. Oh, you need the piece of paper they give you when you graduate? Fair enough then
