Some New Pics Of My Girls

Just cause I haven't posted any in a while

Took some new pictures of my girls tonight. We took a break from playing chase the tennis ball and I got a few good shots in the hallway.

Umji has a dirty face - I swear it gets dirty 5 minutes after a bath. And they both need haircuts. Bad. Aji went into season right about the time we planned to take them so we had to postpone. The groomers don't really appreciate that sort of thing. Makes the boys go crazy. I'll post more when they get their hair cut.

Awww, chip! they're sooo cute!!!!!  They're looking at the camera as if to say "ok, where's the ball?  we want the ball!!!! THE BALL!!!!!"

Henry won't stay still long enough for me to take his picture....and he hates me dressing him up.  Detests it.  I'm going to have to start soon though, it's getting colder and he'll need a sweater....

It does take a lot of effort to get them to sit still for a few seconds. I took about 20 pics to get the three decent ones in the hallway.

They do like getting dressed up, though. I'm not a big fan of it really. I don't think they've worn the mumus more than once or twice. We bought some sweaters last year when we drove across the country in October. It was much colder than Hawaii, so we got them some rugby sweaters to start. Once we started seeing snow, we stopped at a Petsmart and got them some heavier sweaters. They really liked them.

Aji also loves her hot pants. Just mentioning them (she knows them as 'pretty girl pants') or letting her see them sends her into a circle-dancing frenzy!

Thanks! They are island girls. Aji (the mother) was born in Australia and we got her in Hawaii from a place that brought Australian puppies in. It's the only rabies free place you can bring animals in without a quarentine. Umji (the 3-legged daughter) was born in Hawaii. Her daddy dog (Toby, he's in the Aloha Shirt) was also from Australia.

Yeah, I don't remember the name but it was a small shop with treats and doggy clothes. Just downstairs from the Spaghetti Factory.

It's good they didnt have to go thru quarantine, i remember we couldnt bring our dog from Costa Rica to France becoz

1) the flight wouldnt have been comfortable for him
2) the quarantine was so strict they wanted to keep him 38 days, or something like that before we could have him back
3) the whole process was pretty dear...

My dad thought he'd just shoot it, cuz it wouldnt have been fair for the dog to be abandonned, but luckily one of our friends adopted him...
Sniff, sniff, i missed him sooooo much...

Quarantine is pretty bad for Hawaii, too. We had to give up our first dog when we moved there. My sister still has him and they both came to visit us earlier this year. They recently changed the procedures, so military members can qualify for a 24 hour quarantine if you take care of all the paperwork and tests early.

I'm glad you were able to find someone to take him.

The people there are really nice, too. They had a contest going on when we bought the Aloha wear. They said to take pics and bring them back in and they'd pick winners. The winner would get a years worth of free treats and would be featured in the print ads for the company that made the Aloha wear. We never did turn in any pictures - we bought them the month I was back in Hawaii to move.

Heh. I bet you have to sit out on your porch with a shotgun to watch over these little girls. Hate to be walking my bulldog by if you were.

HAHA!!! I will go to great lengths to protect the virtue of my girls. Of course, Umji is fixed, so we have to worry about her a lot less - there was no way we were going to risk her ever getting pregnant. That would be pure hell on a three legged dog as small as her. But, Aji is still a ripe woman and in search of a fine, young man. She has let us know she wants puppies again and we're not against the idea of another litter. We just have to find an upstanding man for her...

Beautiful and as already said many times, adorable. Have you had them take part in dog shows? I'm sure they would win a price.

Well, the things is with Maltese, the official show standard is for their hair to flow, silkily down to the floor and we are just too lazy to brush them everyday as they'd need (an hour each!). We have thought about little contests, though. Before we left Hawaii, we bought them the Aloha mumus and we were told that if we brought pictures in, they'd have a chance to win free snacks for a year and get featured in print ads for the Aloha wear company. But we moved immediately after buying the mumus, so we never entered. Something for us to think about here, though... have to keep my ear to the ground.

We will definetely keep you in mind. My favorite breed of dog used to be the Golden Retriever. I still love the breed, but after having two litters of Maltese in the house, I have to say they are my favorite. The puppies are incredibly cute when they are born.
