[WISH] Surrender button

When it becomes clear the game will be won by a team. The loosing team should have the option to surrender and end the game gracefully. Just quitting is annoying.

Proposal:

A surrender option in the game menu. when most players on a team pressed the button the game will finish with a victory for the other team.

on a 1v1, only 1 needs to press the button before surrender

on 2vs2, both members of a team needs to press the button

on 3vs3, 2 are needed

on 4vs4, 2 are needed

on 5vs5, 3 are needed

A notification is sounded when a member uses the surrender option

I wish this exist too.  In other games, people just quit to surrender.  In demigod, even when people quit, they become the AI and we still have to play through the whole game.   This makes games longer...

I think it's a great idea. the only thing I might change is the number of people who have to agree to surrender. I kind of think everyone should have to, but there are drawbacks to that. Either way, it would be an improvement though.

I like the concept but I think it places too much emphasis on players being truthful. If disconnects count as loses then I am in.

4vs4's would requires 3 players as well imo majority rules.

This should definitely be in. Much better than having people quitting, it's really boring finishing against ai.

A surrender button would be really great.  We had talked at one point about giving surrendering players an incentive to discourage DCs as an alternative, but I'm not sure what that would look like within the modified ELO the devs are using.

Surrendering could optionally get it's own animations. A kneeling Rook etc...

Imo it would be better to have like after a certain time you would need less and less of the ppl to surrender but in the start and for like the first 10 mins or so it would need all 5 to surrender or all 4 or sth.

I still think that, since it will count as a loss against every player, then every plaer should have to agree, but at the same time, if not being able to convince everyone just leads people to leaving the game instead, that isn't any good either.

surrender? who surrenders? even if you know youre going to lose, at least have the dignity to lose WELL... hell, pretty much every game i play online i lose at 90% of the time, but by god, i fight and claw and struggle to the bitter end. and sometimes, i manage to scratch out a win from what seemed like sure defeat. surrender? bah! whats the point of playing then? do you only want to play when your victory is clear?

The issue isn't how you play, radiobabylon.  It's about the thousands of first blood leaving punks who will leave as soon as the smallest thing doesn't go to plan.

After thinking about it for a bit -

- the surrender button should be an all-or-nothing option.  Everyone on the team has to vote for it to work.

- Surrender should not be available as an option until the game has been in session for 5 minutes.

- Surrendered games should count achievements and favor/experience based on player positions at the time of surrender.

To save time when being actively griefed or farmed for points. You can be severely outnumbered due to leavers or outplayed but with the enemy being slow at or just refusing to finish the game and farming you for kills or just griefing.

When someone has leftand AI takes over, his vote is of course no longer needed :-)

Lol, these games are only fun if you have a full team of people you know that you can trust to work hard AND have fun.

Once everybody on the other team leaves it should be a default win for the team still in the game.  Period, end of the story.

Problem solved.

As for early leavers, I quite like how it's handled in Starcraft:

If the game ends (people leave) in the first 2:00, it's counted as a draw.

As long as they include a pest list for people who consistently leave games, that should be enough.

I second this request.  I hate it when the game has gotten to the point where my only role is to be target practice.  Why can't I just give up and end my suffering?  It should count as a straight-up loss for rating purposes, just like when I resign in a chess match.  (next time this happens I might just go make myself a sandwich or something ... less stressful than spending 5-10 minutes stunned and/or watching the death overlay)

Surrender is a must if you idiots are tracking disconnects

This will happen less when there's consequences for losing.  Having a ladder rating score will keep more players from quitting at the first unpleasant gank.  Plus, the better you get, the less likely you are to play those types of players :)

And a pest list.  We must have a pest list.  A pest list that prevents you from going against pested players in random ladder matches (assuming they have a matchmaking service besides the pantheon).
