The Good Old Days...

The Good Old Days...

Ah the good old days... You know, just when you thought things had moved into this century, someone comes along to remind you that if you don't have a low user number, weren't a part of www.someobscureskinningsite.org, or knew 'Old Fred', then your opinion doesn't really count for much.

You remember 'Old Fred'? He was around when skinning was writing four lines in notepad... Of course, no-one has seen 'Old Fred' for ten years at least, and he never actually skinned anything back then - but he was the best...

Thankfully skinning is a lot more popular these days and the old guard clique elitists are outnumbered a thousand to one. But from time to time they like to put you in your place.

There's this thing called evolution though. If something fails to evolve it becomes extinct.

"Have we become so old that we have outlived our usefulness?"

Do you really want an answer?

Being old is only important if there is someone else left around to know if you where there or not when you say so, otherwise, who cares.:-"

Some of the "Good Old Days" weren't all that good. They are all old, however.;)

Old is when you volunteered to help Noah with building the Ark... and he said: "No thanks, go sit in the shade old timer.

Can I guess who this thread's about?

I don't see anything wrong with remembering other times. Especially since Brad was one of the founders of Windows skinning and my company helped bring skinning to the mainstream. Some of our Windows Media Player skins shipped with the player and were placed on well over 300 million Windows computers.

I think I've earned the right to bring up old times. If you feel threatened that's on you. No one's taking "today" away from you by talking about "yesterday" are they?

I come back when my product is the subject of a forum thread here. You don't want me back, stopped posting about my intellectual property.

Shelby: Could you possibly be more melodramatic? Doubtful. You sound like someone who has no life if I can get you so riled up that you had to stay home to "see how this mess turned out".  You'd have your lawyer contact me? Would you like my business address? "I don't like the man at all!" Who cares? You're not on my Christmas list either. You need some serious medication?

Yeah I made lite of everything toward the end. It's a forum. Who cares? The American recession is in full swing, we're in 2 wars, my friend who's an Airborne Ranger may have to go back to Iraq for a year after serving in Special Forces and being on IRR for over a year and a half. Arguing about a theme is ridiculous. I like to blow off some steam with some of you who take little passive aggressive shots at our work. But if you think I'm sitting here fuming (like Shelby does) over some pot shots in a forum, then you don't know me well at all.

Green beer's on Shelby. After he places the pipebomb in the package addressed to me :-)

Then he comes in and flat out flames other members and walks away laughing about it. Says it is the ways of the past and he is the damn greatest there is.

Can I guess who this thread's about?

My oldest son (whom I'm very proud of by the way), was diagnosed a couple years ago by his Army psychiatrist with Asperberger syndrome.  We (my family and I) always thought he was just kind of an @sshole sometimes.  We love him, totally respect his service to his country, sacrifices he made in Iraq, all that stuff, I would defend him to the death, but he IS sometimes kind of an @sshole -- but now we know why.  Since learning about his condition, certain aspects of his personality make more sense to me know...and I'm able to apply that knowledge to interactions with others at sundry times in my life.  :)

Lighten up dudes, it's a gag...

BTW, I knew Old Fred before any of you, so there ;p

Me? I'm just here to learn, help (when my limited knowledge allows), have fun and make friends....so, when I perceive that things are getting out of hand, I throw out some humor (or what I can come up with closest to that) to defuse things.

In a world where disease goes untreated for money's sake, kids starve and die, people kill and maim each other, futures are stolen and destroyed and all manner of mayhem occurrs this stuff (Hyperdesk, WB, Winstep)...ALL of it is chicken shit.

Enough of this. Learn to get along or get gone. The past is dead. Learn to live in the now and for tomorrow.

I still miss the old (skinable) Wincustomize-site....

Back then, even the coding errors were charming and not just plain annoying. ;)

Lighten up dudes,

Believe me, I am trying.... just snaffled a few tips from the Jenny Craig and WeightWatchers site to see if that helps. :-"

As for the good old days... well that was when people put food in our mouths, wiped our butts and paid the bills so we didn't have any worries.

Any other good days after that are a bonus. ;)
