Impulse Server Problems

Hi, ive had impulse installed on my computer for a little over half a year now. i haven't opened it for a long time, so it needed to be updated. it got stuck on "Updating Impulse - Connecting" or something like that, so i quit. When i opened impulse the next day, it had no internet connection and was working in "Offline Mode." when i clicked on the impulse orb (menu) it showed an error message needing to resatart impulse. I finally reinstalled impulse full, and when i try to log in, it says "Server not responding, please check your internet connections." If it helps any, Mozilla Firefox lets me connect to the internet, but Internet Explorer doesn't. Can someone give me help please?
