Hi,

            I am a new modder, but a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, and have thought in recent months that it would be well to join my two great passions in one project. So i have slaved away secretly for months now to tweak just the right files in just the right amounts with just the right care and love and devotion and sincerity and dedication to that ideal.

So, tonight i have just finished my greatest and most treasured Masterpiece and would like to share it with the world!

To that end, i have uploaded my secret mod, until now known only by the secret password-keyword-codeword of Wilt Chamberlin. So i would like to present without much further ado, to the Sins Community and the World

 

Basketball Sins v1

 

Compatible with Sins 1.12 - 1.15.  No Entrenchment Basketball yet,  :(  But give me time!!  :)

p.s.  :)  the link works and there really is a mod, i put it in for all races, all you have to do is go to capitalships after starting the game.  :)

:)  Haha, im glad!!! and Happy. I was playing around with the resize and got it TOO BIG, haha, but then i had a silly thought, "What if...?"  you know?  It is really just for fun and silly, haha, but yes, a mp game with giant basketballs would be like the battle of the century!!!  :)  You know, i only wish i could get a texturer to help me get like orange and stripes on it to make it look like a real basketball, well... metallic-mechanized-futuristic-spacebattle-kind of basketball.  :)

:)  It OBLITERATES EVERYTHING!!!!  :)  Haha, well... pretty much, i made if pretty hard to kill, it was really just for fun, i didnt think anyone would really really get into it, its just TOO BIG!!  You know?  Haha, but hey, if we are going to start a Sins Basketball Community here, i can make one for entrenchment!!  :)  Oh my!!!  Is the world ending?   :S

Haha.  I love this thing.  I was hoping someone would create a death star-like ship, so I have a wish (that I can't expect to come true)...

Please, please make it be able to destroy a planet, leaving only asteroids behind!  And then give it another ability to form planets from asteroids! 

Sorry, I'm a huge stellar manipulation/conversion fan.  I also wish someone would create ring worlds and dyson spheres at some point in a mod.  Like you can stumble upon a ringworld (think: Halo) that can be activated as a superweapon (shoots a TEC-like blast, etc.)...  Or you could construct a dyson sphere around your system for protection/colonization.  Maybe make it go to the mid-ring of your gravity well.

But steller manipulation/conversion could really be a new mod altogether.  Any takers?

Also, one suggestion: maybe give it a more ominous name, like Doomball or something haha.  And will it work with your Starfall mod?

:)  DeathStar Basketball!!!   :)  As to destroying a planet? Perhaps we could use the siege frigate with a DeathStar appearance, so yes, i think that could be done, even up the rate of damage on the siege so as it will kill the planet fairly quickly. But building planets out of asteroids?  Hmmm........ not exactly sure how i could go about that, It seems to me it would take new animations that we dont have, but it would be something to look into. 

The Dyson spheres and the Ring-worlds are very very neat. If we re-sized a capitalship factory, which is round of course, into something like 20 times its size, we could have something planet-size, or over planet-size that we could then call a ring-world, but the gravity-well for such a thing would be outside the ring, not inside it, as it was in the books of course.

Stellar manipulation is beyond me right now, maybe always will be beyond me, i dont know, it seems the devs or perhaps a game made on Larry Niven's RingWorld principles would really be the best, it wouldnt be imitation, but the real thing, :)  at least in a gameworld sense it would be real.  :)

As for combining the basketball with my StarFall mod?  Haha, that is where it started, but the over-planet-sized death basketball seemed too silly to kee p.  :)  I wanted to do a smaller version, about the size of the Starbases i made from other re-sized objects, but to be honest, when playing, it felt too much, i mean, with Starbases, Flagships, Support Carriers, ScoutFighters, ScoutGunships, Mercyships, MobileDefense, Kamakazi's, Extra ModuleConstructors, Disruptors, BoardingRaiders and Mines, one more was like the straw that broke the camel's back. It just seemed too much, but if you like, i can resize it to something more "Normal", like the Starbase size and zip it up and you can add it.  :)

Yes please and converted over for entrenchment too! I love having an overpowered unit to play with especially if the ai can use it too. :cylon:

If you could do a resized Doomstar/battleball, Dyson Sphere , and Ringworld (complete with superweapon ability like in Halo haha), I would be a very happy camper.  :D   I guess technically dyson spheres were supposed to be built around stars in order to capture all energy that stars output.

And for stellar manipulation:  I wonder if you could just resize an explosion animation to be the size of a planet, and somehow make it do a switcheroo to asteroids during the really large, bright explosion?  And give the asteroid(s) "uncolonizable" due to radiation for awhile.  Or vice versa for remaking asteroids into a new planet.  But like you said, may be too complex, I have zero clue haha.
