Journal request, RPG elements

Hey, this is a request for a journal entry that details some of the games RPG elements. This is one part of the game that we have yet to hear anything significant about...and one that I am most curious about. We know your leader can gain levels and learn spells, but how does he do this? Do you get a certain amount of XP for killing units and completing quests? How in depth is the character development and customization going to be? How does the essence gain work, and what exactly do you do with it? I know the more essence you dole out the weaker you become, but in what way does hording that essence make you stronger? I'm also very curious about how the loot system in the game will work. It has been said that you can do some dungeon crawls in the game, but how will the game deal with what you find in the dungeon?

well, I'm sure they're going to cover all of it by release, since this part may not be that apparent in early betas the way things like trade, magic, or combat will.   Then again, "customizing your wizard' as seen in Master of Magic apparently counts as RPG elements in most people's book, so *shrug*

The loot system eh?  I kinda expect that to be something heavily tweaked based on user feedback.  

I'm sticking to the magic post that I 'signed' a while back that I believe was created by GW Swicord.   Of course any information is good information, I signed the other one 1st so if I'm given 1 'user demanded' journal request, I'd have it be that one since it was 1st.

Likewise, this will be interesting when the time comes to reveal it.  I got a good laught at the little notebook sketches used in the prior updates---so cool!
