Does not work

What more can I say...sorry about your developement. I think software builds like this use the internet as a crutch for developement. We are all betea testers.

To the point...installed...& uninstalled, 3 TIMES!!! The thing would not apply any boot skin I selected at start up.

Thanks for letting me try it, keep working on it.

BootSkin XP hasn't been touched in a long time. Pretty much if it works for you, great, if not, then we suggest you simply uninstall it.

That was done BEFORE my last post thank you. "Having not been touched" for a long time is not the kind of help came here for and how exactly is the end user supposed to know that some developer just "gave up" on it?

Bootskin XP does not work for many people due to BIOS tweaks made by the manufacturer of their PC. It would be impossible for Stardock to make it work with all systems BIOSes so development for it stopped.

From the product page:

BootSkin XP Download

BootSkin XP is FREE.

BootSkin XP is free for non-commercial use for Windows XP only. BootSkin XP is no longer supported and is available only on an "as is" basis.

And

BootSkin XP Download Alternative Versions

Some drivers and bios makers "break the rules" which can cause BootSkin Pro to not work correctly. If you experience that, you can remove BootSkin Pro by deleting \windows\system32\drivers\vidstub.sys. And then try one these alternative versions.

Ahh blame the hardware...(BIOS), you developers take things so hard. What end user hasn't got that song & dance from a developer! I'm so sorry they "broke the rules" on you!!

Well how is it still being developed for windows vista...it's still going into the same boards with the same BIOS. Are you saying if I went from XP to VISTA this would work flawlessly

Grow UP!!!!!!!!

I've already purchased software from here and am still enjoying it today. I went to your profile and you are definitely older than you act......

I am an end use REMEMBER. Not a developer, We are PAYING for their result in the full version jerk.  That is why we download free stuff. We want to find out if it will work before we hand our money out to little brats like you.....

That would be Bootskin Pro, and yes, at least for me on 32 bit Vista it does work flawlessly. Upgrade from your antique OS and see for yourself.;)

I doubt you could convince the whole lot of us (including large corporations) that it is a good idea to thow out a perfectly good "antique" XP Pro OS for Vista. No my next OS will be windows 7. You keep wasting YOUR coin on Vista!!!

From HERE

I invite others to create blogs and post on whatever they want with only a few exceptions – personally attacking each other and me in particular.

Personal attacks are intolerable, both towards one another, as well as towards Zubaz who started out by trying to help you and ignored your tone.

You cannot relate to others here like that here, and I'd advise you not to do it elsewhere either.

Please edit your quoted comment.

The product does not work on your system for the reasons reasonably and politely explained to you. Alternate versions were offered. It is not supported because of reasons beyond Stardock's control. You paid nothing for it. It is offered as is to the public for free.

What's your gripe? If you choose to answer, please do it politely.

The technology that Bootskin Pro (for Vista) and Bootskin (for XP) are radically different . . and thus the Vista version works for almost everyone.

Stardock does it's best to develop apps that work for everyone.  We provide a service and in returnare provided money.  It's in our best interest to release working products.

The fact that you attacked the developers and insinuated that they are lazy or thoughtless or what-have-you sets me off.

Personal attacks are frowned upon.  Please refrain from making them again.

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" seems appropriate for this...

BootSkin XP is provided for no cost so that the people it does work for can still use it.  Are you having issues with software you paid for?  If so, we'd be more than happy to help you work through them.

These comments actually show your immaturity not Zubaz's.  We are a COMMUNITY here at WC, and those of us who are REAL users enjoy being part of the development process.  We are able to have input about features we would like to see or those that we don't want.  It's a symbiotic relationship.  I would invite you to join us.  You might just find we are a great bunch of people who will help all that we can to help with your issues, but as in any situation in life rude behavior will only garner the same responses.  Have a nice day and sorry the software didn't work for you.
