About those Aeria Drone Hosts...

About those Aeria Drone Hosts...

Just got horribly annihilated as Vasari by an Advent comp spamming drone hosts.  :)

Now I don't want to get into any balance arguments here, but as the Vasari, what is an effective way to counter this type of spam?  The sentinels didn't do much-new squadrons were built as soon as they were swatted down.  Of course though, my army was quite small, since it consisted of quite a bit of lrf for the earlier disciple spamming the other comps were engaging in, and we know how fast lrf fall to strikecraft.

I had not yet teched to destructers, nor any of the support cruisers.  I probably should have built a Kortal, but I had the Evacuator and the Destroyer and not enough credits.  :P

But enough rambling:  What are good countermeasures for a joint disciple/drone host army for the Vasari?

And I learned that Gravity Warhead plus Phase Jump Inhibitors is a really evil combination.

Have you ever seen guardians using repulsion to push an enemy fleet away from the edge of the gravity well?  Preferably with subjugators and revelations preventing enemies from running.  Now THAT'S evil when combined with a PJI.  I once killed an entire 2000 command computer fleet like that.  Not a single survivor.

Wow, that sounds like an amazing combo.  :)

I was always wondering how that repulsion ability could be useful outside of keeping enemies from targeting your illuminators!

@Newplayer--You can start your own threads...this one is about Drone Hosts.

@OP--Flak is still quite powerful.  The squads keep coming back but they are not at 100%.  If you have flak and ignore the carriers they are only sending a few actual fighters at you (though it does show a squadron icon), meaning lower DPS.  I am sure someone else can post the DPS of a light frig and of a fighter to better illustrate what you are facing when it is only 1-3 fighters.

Another thing you might try is to have your flaks keep their fighter busy while having heavy cruisers pound those carriers to a pulp. Alot of people forget about the usefulness of the Heavy cruiser, but when you need something to get close move in fast and hard, but won't die before it gets there, the heavy cruiser is almost your only option.

Be prepaired to incure heavy losses though, and don't do it without fighter support. This situation is actually the exact reason why I have a little mod that allows at least 1 fighter squadron for each cruiser, since fighters tend to protect their mother ship.

This just isn't true about not being able to outbuild carriers....I started building those carriers a while earlier, and I was building them from two locations.

Hi Cykur, I just noticed this post from you (rather late on my part).  That was a good game - well played on your part.  However, I was actually talking about another game with another guy :-)  Sorry for the confusion.
