Let me get this straight.

Let me get this straight.

The mods are banning people, for life none the less, when this game is in dire need of online players.

The player "Sins 101" "Ignorethisbitch" or whatever his name is, had some lulz with some people on ICO. Those same people come and bitch here in the forums and he gets the hammer!. I mean, why don't you all whiners grow a pair and suck it up or, at least use the damm /ignore command. Its not that hard.

He's been banned. His account was removed and his IP tracked. We'll permanently block it when we reset the server for the next patch. If anyone else does this, please report to [email protected] and we'll ban them as well.

We also added some other surprises for them that I'm sure they won't find so funny.

It seems that he could not even appeal.

As if that was not outrageous enough we are talking about a game that after a year of its release is buggy to say the least. How many games did he ruin 2, 3,   5 or 6 may be?. What about all of HIS ONLINE GAMES ruined by minidumps, sync problems, bugs, disconnects, random ICO downtime? What about  the ones he DIDN'T EVEN GET TO PLAY due to a large portion of players inability to host?.

What about his ruined games?

Who should we ban?

What about the $30-$49 he paid for his game key?

A week or two ban period would be punishment enough, but...

"His account was removed and his IP tracked. We'll pertmanently block it when we reset the server for the next patch..."

                         - Stardock

What really pisses me off is the fact that online play would be a lot more enjoyable if Stardock allocated more resources to actually fix the game. Online play is not going to be fixed by banning the random troll.

I'm asking Stardock to please lift his ban or at least make it less severe. After all, he paid money for his game.

You nailed it Fleet.

In memory of Sins101, I decided to make and use an ICO screen name to honor his memory. The screen name I made is " ForTheLulz ", I think he would apreciate its meaning. So if anyone sees ForTheLulz hosting, or joining a game, let it be known that is me acknowledging his saga in ICO servers.

I agree. Stardock and Ironclad have not fixed online nor made an attempt to do so. I'm sorry but when they ban people for life from online play its rediculous. So what if he spammed the main menu screan. From what I can see no one uses it anyway. I never see people talking on there because guess what... NO ONE GETS ONLINE ANYMORE!!! Reason why they dont get online is all the errors, minidumps in paticular. Me and a buddy of mine have just started to get the online games to work, but we still have minidump errors and dysnc and have to load autosaves on long games all the time to keep it insync. We love the game but yet again online support is non existant. These crys will fall on deaf ears im sure. With so many of you on these forums being the few people that don't have issues (which makes up the hardcore fan base for online of 100-300 ppl or so) dont even know what I'm talking about when I say this stuff. This guy is right. Banning people is dumb. They can find ways around it if they are some kind of hacker, and if there just a common joe who spammed one time and got banned. Well then u just lost ANOTHER PLAYER to the already patheticly small online community. Bottom line sins is a great game made by a company that had no idea how to capitalize on its popularity. They were not prepared for online fights. They were not prepared for tech support on the diff systems this game can be played on. They were not prepared for the massive numbers of ingame errors that developed over time. And today they still havnt caught up with the demand. Now they are too late. Most players will stop useing ICO and start useing 3rd party online multi servers that can actually handle the game. Me and my friend are probably going to do so next. Still the point being, WE SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE TO DO THAT! Sins is a tragic example of a great game that you just can't have fun with.

So thats my rant, go ahead and rip up on me if you feel like I'm being to harsh but just remeber I spent my 30 bucks on this game just like everyone else.

P.S I didnt spell check so dont get onto me about spelling.

.And Im sure you followed up on your with emails to [email protected] ?? So banning someone b/c he is turning away people from the small community on ICO is a bad thing?!? Ok, so what if IC didnt ban him? Then what? He continues his ramapage online...new members see this dude spamming away. So either they will try to ignore it. (Which everyone does till their breaking point.) Join in on the spamming. (HEY! He can do it, so can we.) Or just leave ICO period. (Screw this place, is lame.) To be honest, it should of never came to a point that IC had to step in. Its sad that he got banned. Sad in the fact the Devs had to play that card.

Wall of text. For section one you and I must be playing a different game. They are errors and bug and they have done numerous patches to fix them. In fact ever sicne the game came out their is always a section int heir chnagelog that is dedicated to minidumps and descyns. I've vene seen the devs coem online and them selves and play the game to see the bug for them self.

For the later part IC is a brand new compagnie. They created a new engine did awesome work for the 4-6 that made it. And now their like 10 people last I heard and they sold 500k games. 10 people for says roughly 100k that migth be experiencing problems. Think about it. And those 10 people can'T just sit there sendign email to people tellign them how to fix everything, they gotta keep working on patchign the game and devoloping the expansions. Why? Because technical support doesn't make money someting a startign compagnies is short on. Big compagnie cna have lots of tech support because they are big.

And it not the bannign of one bad apple that will be missed by anyone. And no oen will be banned for just spamming once. That dude in question was spamming the channel and screwing over people ingame for a good solid 2 months. He was given more then enougth time to straitent him self. Guest what he didn't, got what eh deserved and no oen that wants to coem online and have fun will cry over for him.

I was kinda wondering this myself...the names looks eerily similiar.

By the way, what exactly is lulz????  I'm int he dark over here...help me out.

"Lulz" basically means "lots of laughs".  It's an Internet-speak modification of LOL  (Laugh Out Loud) which itself is Internet speak.

All of you have completely missed my point. I want him to punished for what you say he did. Like I said 2 or three weeks ban should be enough punishment  for spamming ICO. A lifetime ban is symply taking it too far.

If you think what he did was bad then you should hear the idiots on xbox live, they yell offensive jokes all day long at the top of their voices, and even stream porno audio through their headsets.

He learned his lesson, his ban should be made less severe, and even if he did not learn his lesson he can always be banned again.

BTW isn't it about time for thsi tread to die it'S geetign anoying it seeing him comming back for more trying to defend a moron. SnoopDaggo i got no clue how old you are or what you do or wanan do in the future but you should probably take up lawschool. I'd see you as a lawyer.

I don't play Xbox live much either. Too many idiots. Plus I don't have a xbox.... Anyway I must applaud this banning. I never saw this guy, but I still think this ban was a good idea. If no one enforces the rules they wont get followed. This guy is an example to all the spammers out there: We will not tolerate this kind of behavior. You know, permabans are the computer equivalent of an execution. You can't get back online, so to the online community you are essentialy dead. I support the death penalty.

I think it sets a good precedent. Of course if he came forward, apologized and offered something back to the community greater than he took away, we may welcome him back |-)

See, this is the problem right here. This forum user never dealt with him but still applauds that Sins101 lost his ability to play online. We should not jump to extreme measures so soon.

I stoped gaming at all for an entire year when I got really dissapointed with XBL, then I heard something about SOASE, I checked the reviews, got a copy, liked it, and even spent $1200 in PC parts so I could build a monster PC just to play it. All because I actually really like the game and the fact that it has minimal DRM. I also liked the helpfull communiy that is unlike other game communities I have seen. Sins101 lifetime ban is something that I would see one one of those other game networks. His lifetime ban is so unlike the overall comradeire here in SOASE so it should at least be made less severe.  |-)

I think some people have mistaken this for a debate. It isn't. Save your debates for the beta threads, game design threads, and balancing threads (all of which where we allow you to have an incomparable amount of input into the game). The final word is if you behave like an idiot you will be perma banned with the exception Craig just listed.

If he comes forward, apologizes and offers something back to the community greater than that which he took away we may welcome him back. Otherwise the permaban is in effect.

Don't bother arguing this in any other threads or I'll delete them.

Locking thread.
