Yeah i just crashed 3 times before even getting to pick a custom map. In Single Player trying to change map size past Large is causing me to crash every time. But if i stop on Large and pick a map seems to working so far.
Yes I deleted SINS and refresh download and install of both.
EDIT: Like Blair said Removing old maps does fix the problem. Thank You for a quick response to this issue.
I confirm this, and I just did a clean install of beta 3.0 from scratch. I cannot go from 'large maps' to 'custom maps'
I had the same problem, but I cut and pasted my custom maps that I had in Local settings / application data/ Ironclad/ Sins/ Galaxy to a different location and now I can bring up custom maps. I will try and move it back in to see if it works. If not, then I will create some new maps and restore the others when a fix comes down the road. Hope this helps - J
Old maps are not compatible. Remove them and the problem will fix itself. In the final release we are creating custom map folders per version to avoid this in the future.
I removed all my old maps and I still get the crash
I even removed every single map in the galaxy folder, I still crash.
I have no old maps. I deleted all the old filed, reinstalled and I cannot go from the 'large' section to the 'custom' section.
Your custom maps are causing it to crash. As per Microsoft's specifications, they are stored in your user directory. (probably something like C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy)
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy for Vista
it now works.
I don't think the in game map designer works... mine crashes when I try and create a new map.
Read my previous post (reply #7). That will fix it.
Yeah, my bad Blair... I didn't read your post in it's entirety. The maps I've designed I've installed into the galaxy folder in the root, main installation directory of SoSE; do those ALSO need to be removed?
I guess that brings forth another question... SHOULD the maps be installed into the AppData folder or into the installation folder?
Always into AppData.
So if maps are stored in appropirate file they will work? (I HATE!!
Microsoft telling me where to put my files) Or do I have to create a new map and is Galaxy Forge update.
I have a very good test map that I like to use to test new features.
