Ship Costs

Hi, I'm new to playing dark avatar(1.5) and I was wondering why do ships cost so much to buy?

When I design a ship in the shipyard it says in the right corner that the cost is say for example 300 bc. But if I were to not wait for it to build and just bought it, it costs like 5 times that amount. I don't understand why this is. Shouldn't it cost what it says it is in the shipyard?

Design decission. The story behind purchasing is you contract private sector to finish it. And they charge, a LOT, those greedy corporations. ;)

You mean 9 times.  :P  It's (cost ^ 1.1) * 6, which for a ship generally winds up between 9 and 12 times.

The answer as to "why" is simply that the game would not work right if you could just buy ships for 300 bc.

Try leasing any with weekly installments, then you'll understand what lightning fast manufacturing upgrades can mean to your & AIs global economic ratios.

My real bank does loan at "regularly variable if not fluctuating rapidly" interest rate costs & overcharges, also. Why should you benefit from highly productive output the easy way and without having to pay for the obvious advantage of deploying THE ship faster than your enemy (if it doesn't too!)?

These costs (as shown in the design phase) are simple indications of some real value.

But, i'm just beating the same drum as everyone else above.

Just to ease any frustration about this, the multiplier can be reduced by choosing Neutral via Xeno Ethics.

None-the-less, the "I want it now" mentality has a price.  Any equipment mannufacturer CAN probably have you their product freshly made and delivered to you w/in a days time...the costs they need to take in order to do that however are large...and prices trickle to the end consumer.

One more reason why i believe Neutral alignment IS the most powerful Ethical choice players can make; i'd wish they'd pull off the auto-Terraforming bonus too but that has more to do with the X-Worlds mod secondary layers of G from YOR tiles + BPVM (extremes & colonization fourth level) i'm implementing.
