Out of Africa won because of the setting and music as well...I think it was more of a "Total Experience".

Oh best believe me, I've watched that total experience Doc!  It swept ALL catagories at the Oscars that year!  All of them!  Anything outside of that was less than an honorable mention.  It just looked rather pre-ordained if you know what I mean!

Best one is "Cast Away". A real lesson.

Winner for Best Movie if you can only bring one movie to a deserted island!  :D

I mean, I would think anyone able to type should know how to count to ONE...

Then, I choose only THE FOUNTAIN.

Prepare to be disappointed in that one, mate.  It's just a backdoor TV pilot, released in theaters to pay for the sets, etc.  :(

I dont care if it's a pilot....I still want to see it. If a TV series comes out of it, all the better.

Thinking back on it, one of the most notable movies I saw as a 15 -16 y/o was 'Can Heironymous Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness'

It had a profound effect on me as it was the first celluloid production I saw that had full-frontal nudity... unlike the 'Carry On" films, which were mostly innuendo and implied it.... and 'what' a title.  More here :)
