Since he hadn't been confirmed yet, he hadn't officially resigned his Senate seat
ya, I wasn't sure exactly how that worked and now am wondering what the replacement must be thinking? I wonder if she knew how precarious her upcoming short-term position was going to be? Hopefully she'll retain her prior position as well.
He'd just swung a deal for a specific replacement once his resignation was official.
ya I just realized that part of the deal was not only getting a Republican to replace him but that Republican had to agree not to run in 2010 so the Dems would have a chance for the seat. So that made the whole idea bad in my opinion in the first place. Sounds like a game of dirty pool.
I think this is going to hurt him more than help in the long run.
Time will tell. I wrote an earlier blog before he was asked, when it was blowing in the wind, and I was thinking then he shouldn't take the position.
