feedback on fences

First - apologies if this is not the correct place to post feedback on the new product, Fences.  I could not locate anything else that seemed like a fit.

Installed Fences, on both 32-bit WindowsXP, 64-bit Vista, 32-bit Vista; no problems whatsoever !

Absolutely love this !!  It is something I've always tried to do using folders on the desk, but the problem with that is they tend to multiply as well, so being able to have fences that disappear / re-appear on demand is just awesome.

Suggested improvements - Well, this is just so simple and so perfect for the purpose, there is only a couple of things I can think of right now...
Mouse over title appears - without needing to click on desk to show all fences.  What I mean here is, with all fences 'invisible' it would be cool if the title could appear when passing the mouse over it, so that one could open just one particular 'fence' on demand.

Nested Fences - Would it be possible to have 'sub-fenced' areas inside larger fences?

Great product !!!

Regards

Randy

I too have some feedback.

I'm head of Technology & Development for a company that provides financial data and analytics to every major bank in the world... and my CEO is incapable of saving file *ANYWHERE* except his desktop.

We have three screens for each computer and he manages to fill three desktops worth of icons of saved items.

As you can imagine, this starts to slow his computer down and of course, it's my fault that the machine is running slowly :o) - I jokingly remind him that NASA is not written on the side of his computer.

What would be useful is if Fences actually auto-managed the new icons that are being saved to the desktop, like it does on its first run, but actively. Any new icon could be categorised and moved into the correct fence, with most of them ending up in "Recent Things" or something similar. That way, he wont call me anymore asking why something he's saved has disappeared when its icon is just displaying off the third desktop because there is no more space. LOL.

Also, I couldn't see an option to turn fences on and off... I imagine you've already thought of that though.

love it,only problem is anything you download to desktop does not show untill you doubleclick.would be handy to have download auto show on desktop if your fences are hidden.

Fences doesn't seem to like a multiple extended-monitor setup where both monitors are not the same size and resolution.  Monitor 2 seems to be forced to use the display settings of monitor 1 whenever Fences starts.

A small problem, but for those of us plugging a laptop into an external monitor it whacks out the second display.

I love it, too! However, I think randyv's suggestion about  having the fence title appear on a mouseover, without needing to click on the desktop, is a great idea.

I have one question:

Why does Fences try to connect to the internet when I start my computer? Is it checking for updates?

Hi everybody.

I like fences realy, but it would be nice, if I could just hide a singel fence with doubel clicking on its name or field and that it reopen by double clicking on its Name.

Also nice would be to place the icons free in the fields, not like now, where all icons are in a row one by another. I loved my old XP where i could arrange my icons anywhere without restrictions of place and distant to eachother.

Hope my english is clear enough and thanks for great jobs in general.
