Guns, Gay's, Abortion and War?

I have sat here and typed then deleted several times, wanting to attack the Senator Kerry supporters that are writing all the nutty stuff in their blogs.  After several articles written in a fury and then pondered and deleted I realized that I don't want to attack them.  What good would it do to make fun of or ridicule them.  They, I guess need the time heal after their loss and then maybe they will come around. 

There are things that we will never agree on, but should make compromises or at least see the other side.

1) Abortion - it need to be more than black and white.  I don't want any baby (embryo ) killed but, like in any situation there should be a set of circumstances for it to be allowed.  Such as rape, but not for birth control.  ( though I don't have a problem with the morning after pill)

2) Gun Control - I believe that every citizen should be trained to handle a gun by the age of say, 10.  For all you in the bigger cities that is the difference, rural kids( most of them) are trained in the proper care and handling of guns from a very young age.  To us guns are a tool and provide forms of recreation such as hunting and target shooting.  The majority of us are responsible and don't turn into serial killers.  However, I do understand your fear.  If I had grown up in the city I would be fearful as well and yes, I would probably want some type of gun control. 

3) Gay marriage - Hell, give it to them but don't call it marriage.  To me the term marriage means the union between a man and a woman.  Call it anything you like besides that.  As far as the adoption thing,. well I haven't decided yet.  I don't believe that a Gay man can pose as a mother, maybe it's just because that seems creepy to me, or that a Gay woman can pose as a father, for some reason that isn't creepy. (maybe a little weird though).  But in this world of single parents maybe two of the same gender wouldn't be that bad?

4) The war in Iraq - It didn't matter neither one will get it right.

5) War on terror - Again it didn't matter neither one will get this right either.  There will be victories and defeats. And at each one there will be people cheering or jeering the person in office.

 

One thing that we can agree on is that the country is divided. Guys we need to meet somewhere in the middle and really listen to each others concerns. Right now we are like a married couple at about year 3 of the marriage, all fighting with no one giving in.  We need to get on to year 4, so we can argue just to make up!  Think of the parties we could throw!

Allow me to congratulate you on the first rational victory article by a Bush supporter that I've read since Tuesday.

And you're right, abortion will never be agreed upon, but thank God someone other than me has written in support of the morning after pill. It should be OTC, that would solve alot of problems.

I'm mostly in agreement with the gun control, since I don't want guns taken away either. However, I disagree that hunting is recreation, but that is not a discussion for this thread.

The gay marriage issue has almost become more semantic than anything. I personally feel that homosexuals should accept civil unions, if they are given the same rights, and leave the word marriage alone. However, as a writer, I also understand that words are a lot more powerful than most people give them credit for. That is why this is such an issue.

And of course no one's gonna get Iraq right.

And the same for terror, which is a war that can't be won.

This is the problem I have with pro-choicers. Since when does lack of abortion kill somebody (besides cases in which the pregnancy will kill the mother, in which case, I think most people will agree that abortion is justified in that case). Unless you can prove to me that women will die because of lack of abortion (besides the example I mentioned), you're lying, which isn't going to help your argument.

I believe it is justified to kill somebody if that person is tried in a court of law and found guilty and sentenced by a jury of his/her peers...however an unborn baby has no such trial, is it therefore justified to start killing criminals with no trials since abortions are justified?

The philosophical ramifications to the whole problem with abortion are astounding and both sides will always claim they are right, right?

Keep it legal but cut Government funding for it because would you want me to tax you to spend money on bullets to shoot your family with a rifle?

And at what point during a woman's pregnancy would you stop supporting an abortion because there is a risk she'd die from giving birth? As a Democrat and a self-proclaimed Pro Choicer, I don't really see that I have a right to say ANYTHING about this. The fact being that... I'm a man. It's a woman's issue, and we should let the women decide how to deal with it. If women want to outlaw or support abortion, then I think we (men) should respect that.

Gun control vs. Gun education - Parents have the most responsibility here; and I'd be willing to (as a personal thing) stop ranting about the gun control issue IF a concentrated effort was made to instruct and educated our children about GUN SAFETY. Like it or not, kids are as impressionable as they are curious, and parents have to really be willing to go that extra mile to ensure that their children know what they need to know.

Gay marriage - Okay, c'mon and just say it people: what's the big deal? Tell us what is so SACRED and HOLY about Marriage? Please. I'm dying to know.

War in Iraq - I'm one of those peaceniks who believe war is not the answer and I try to seek civil resolution to all conflicts. One exception: I'd like the people behind 9/11 caught and dealt with thank you very much. I still don't believe Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. Prove me wrong and I might just shut up.

War on Terror - I especially liked how Bush said he was going to go after and eliminate all terrorism. That one really just made me smile with good old fashioned American pride (Psst, I'm being sarcastic). Seriously... if ya wanna fight the terrorists, then fight the terrorists. Don't go off on tangents and try to explain to everyone why. I guess enough people bought it though.

1 - It is a living human being, not a finger nail to be trimmed. Calling it anything else dehumaizes it, and makes it easy to kill.

2 - Where does he advocate killing anyone? I missed that in his Blog.

What in the world are you talking about, I no where in my article wrote anything about not supporting a living human being's right to live. How ever I do agree with grim.

Yes, I do agree.

The fact being that... I'm a man. It's a woman's issue, and we should let the women decide how to deal with it.


Yes we should, however let me in on how to do this?
I think the morning after pill would solve lots of this arguement, If it were an over the counter drug that was resonably cheap.
