Most of the world puts the DAY first, rather then the month.... So much simpler.

Might be simpler if that's how you learned it, but it's wrong. To do it right, you need to put the month first then the day, then the year if you want to be correct. We're American, so we must be right.

realy then the JAPANESE method is simpler to program and sort as it YEAR month DAY (YMD), not MuDdY or Danm Mug Yanks

btw I'm an Aussie.

The only reason the yanks do it that way I am sure is for the same reason they drive on the right - because it is different to what Britain does...

BTW harpo - even using the japanese way still has the day on the end, not in the middle like the yanks.... :)

CAN'T WE ALL JUST......GET ALONG!?!?!? 8C

so true hack78

personally I dislike argueing but when somebody tries to make out that they are above me then I start to get a bit riled up an have this slight habit of firing a small warning shot of a 1 terraton warhead to near them, but if they admit that they are not always in the right then I can get along with them

Nope, we invented the car, at least the first worthwhile, mass produced version, and always intended for everyone to drive on the right, (everyone can see that it's better that way.) The Brit's weren't driving vehicles when we had them on the road, and we didn't hang onto our anger towards them after the early 1800s (aside from a bit of concern over their naval alliance with the Japanese after WWI, which we broke up through, honest diplomacy (and a wee bit of wire tapping). We're a friendly, creative, and generous nation that wants nothing better than to invent new things that improve living and to show the world how to live better (by doing things correctly, ie our way)

As for the date. Month then day because you don't always need the year (most people don't need a reminder, and it's easier to sort though large piles of documents if the year is last in the date, eg taxes.)

Im from New Zealand but now live in California.  I gotta say that putting the month first, while a bit confusing when not used to it,  does make sense when sorting through large amounts of documents or saving files with the date in the name on your computer.  It automatically organizes the files by month then day (conologically correct)  as apose to all the 20ths being together and then all the 21ths being together.  Just makes more sense.  And as for the driving on the right side of the road.  The Brits (and most of the commonwelth) are stuck with the whole "draw your sword with your right hand"  thing so you need to pass on the left side of the road.  However, most of the population is right handed and so it does make more sense to pass on the right side, which continental Europe does btw.  Then there's light switches, spelling, and the whole toilet bowl flushing the opposit way thing.  Not quite sure about them but i do know this.  Ive traveled alot.  56 different countries.  And I gotta say, the US is actually quite brilliant in alot of the things they do.  Stuff in general seems to be alot better planned out here then back in NZ.  I got mad respect for America.  Even if they make mistakes, in general, its with good intentions.

And the dude responsible gets kicked out

Obviously you haven't heard of the horse and cart - that is STILL classified as driving.... Remember the early cars required someone to walk in front and wave a flag!!!

and the whole toilet bowl flushing the opposit way thing.

That's to do with being in the northern vs southern hemisphere.... US and UK spin the same way, which is opposite to Aus and NZ... Lets leave it at things people made/chose to do a particular way as opposed to how physics makes things work....

Actually in order to have the roation of earth play any roll in wich way it spins the toilet bowl would have to be about 10 miles wide.  And even then it would have almost no effect.  Im an Astro-physics major and we actually did the calculation as a homework problem a few years ago.  So the way they flush is actually entirely an egineering descision.  though most toilets down there flush differently in the first place.  I dont know the details, but my uncle invented a fan that sucks air directly out of a toilet bowl thus making it oder free called "pan fan."  He was telling me about how he had to redisign it for the amreican market because of differences in how they flush.  Apparently the cyclone style flush is an old "out dated" kind of toilet that for some reason amarica refuses to move on from.
