Hide / Change the size of only certain icons, without disturbing other icons

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to allow me to hide OR change the size of only certain icons/folders on the desktop. It is a bunch of folders that I constantly use ie music, videos, downloads, and uni stuff.

Reason being I want these few folders to look BIGGER than other desktop icons. Either that, or I want to HIDE only these folders so that I can use a dock launcher (which allows me to adjust their size).

Is there a way to do either of these without affecting other desktop icons?

right click on folder > properties > hidden

make sure show hidden files and folder is not checked in folder options

can't think of a way to affect the size of specific icons in a foleder

xp or vista?

Thanks for the reply!

I'm using XP, and the "hidden folders" method only succeeded in making the folders grayed out, but still very visible.

Also, show hidden files and folders is disabled.

hidden has to apply to that folder and all sub folders and files (2nd option)
