Why can't I watch battle real-time

Hey all,

 

Ok so i've checked in my options and cross-referenced 9i dont know if thats the right term but i like using it lol) with what it says in the book and for some reason my battles are still not real-time. All that happens is the little ship on map shoots a laser and the nemy explodes. That's crap! My old game i was able to see the battles in real time and watch the ships fight it out. What exactly needs to be clicked one to make my battles real-time as the book doens't help me at the moment.

The relevant settings are on the Interface tab under Battle Options. You should be able to see things in the combat viewer if you select the Full Fleet Battles checkbox. If you're attacking a single ship with a fleet and want to see it in the viewer, you'll need to clear the Show Full Fleet Battles Only If Both Sides Are Fleets check box.
