[Fixed]Crackling noise while game is running

Any ideas?

Hey, for some reason the sound always crackles when I'm playing the game. You can hear the background music and everything (which is gorgeous, congrats to those who put it together), but it's just a constant presence. Any ideas on how to fix this? This happens any time after the intro sequence, so on the main menu and during gameplay.

I'll add details as necessary, but I don't know what you guys need.

edit:

I tried toggling the no sound while game is out of focus (not sure about wording), but that didn't work.

We had some cases like this that were fixed by upgrading the sound card's drivers. In most cases, it was onboard sound that caused the problem so in order to upgrade the driver, you may need to update with motherboard driver package if they don't have just a sound card driver.

I figured it out - I toggled something about the pile in the computer settings - I fixed it yesterday and forgot what I did... :-/ If anyone else has this problem, I'll try to retrace my steps.
