What Are the Best Sci-Fi Flicks?

What, in your opinion, are the best Science Fiction movies?

Here are the ones I think are the best...in no particular order:

The Matrix (only the original)

Star Wars (esp. episodes III and V)

Stargate

Star Trek II, III, and IV

Planet of the Apes (the original with Charlton Heston)

Aliens

Terminator I & II

E.T.

Total Recall

My fav is Stargate followed closely by Transformers (2008) [although the latter could be argued about its validity in the sci-fi genre]. :)

Ya know i thought that too D. I'd certainly list it in the top of any list. As i would the Dark Knight, again does it rate as Sci-Fi?

Some great ones mentioned, including a few I haven't seen yet. I'll have to check 'em out.

"Star Trek"s 2, 4, 6, "Generations" and "First Contact"

"Star Wars" saga (though it never gets better than "TESB")

"War of the Worlds" (1950s original---I missed Tom Cruise's)

"The Matrix" (1)

"The Terminator" movies

"The Day the Earth Stood Still" (the orignal with Michael Rennie--didn't see the one with Keanu)

"Invasion of the Body Snatchers"---either version; they're both good for different reasons.

"Alien" and "Aliens"

"Fantastic Voyage"---Raquel Welch in that wetsuit!

"Close Encounters"

"ET"

And what the heck....I'm gonna add the "Back to the Future" movies....time travel, flying Deloreans and the flux capacitor are all sci-fi!
