What I Think About A Black President

Nothing To Do With Color

I wish to go on record because it's no secret that Obama's election didn't thrill me to pieces.   But it has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with color.

I am absolutely thrilled that the blacks are represented by a Black President.  I can understand their joy and excitement.   I'm happy for their moment.  I'm glad they have a good family man to to look up to as well.  For many young black men, I hope Obama will inspire them to lead better lives.

That's all well and fine.

I would have been thrilled over the top or beyond measure though,  if he were a Black Republican President  with core conservative values.

I guess us Latinos will have to wait for a Latin President to have our moment, to have a family to  look up too, to inspire us. in the mean time, lets keep on being losers.

i'm absolutely thrilled to be represented by obama--as are alotta other persons black, white, yellow, pink, purple, etc.

i'm even more thrilled to be represented by an articulate, intelligent constitutional scholar who is easily distinguishable from a sitcom dummy daddy.

So had he been a Black Republican, you would have been estatic, but because he's a Democrat, you're not happy?  Fair enough....I guess...contradictory, but I appreciate your views.

I wondered what happened to the other races who live in America though?  Our new President will only represent a certain section of our society?

and there's a whole "lotta" who are NOT thrilled as I'm not.

and these are fighting words.  To serve what purpose?

So what kind of grades did this scholar receive?  What was his college thesis on?  What exactly do you know about this "articulate, intelligent, constitutional scholar" other than he won the Presidency on "change."   Com'on do share.

No, I'm not saying that.  I'm not saying he's not representing all who live in America.  All I'm saying is that for the first time in history the Blacks can have a President of their own color who represents them in a way that a white President can't seem to.   That's a good thing.

I'm not saying that Bush didn't represent all of America but you have to admit that Bush wasn't going to speak to the Black population like Obama will.  He represents them not only as an American but also by race and party affiliation since most of the Blacks are Democratic.

guess...contradictory, but I appreciate your views.

How is it contradictory?

as i just noted in another person's blog, i was apparently incorrect in dismissing his claim to the effect that 'many were not lookin forward to obama becoming president.  i just didn't realize which people he (and possibly you as well) meant til i read an article in today's la times (1/22/09) by barbara derrick.  ms derrick reported that the proc's state-run tv coverage of obama's inaugural address was interupted twice to block access to certain of his statements by audiences in china.  the same two statements were not included in printed transcripts later published by chinese newspapers.

ms derrick explains it thusly:

"China's leadership has shown concern that the new president will be far tougher on trade and human rights issues than President Bush was.

The nervousness was reflected in an editorial Wednesday in the China Daily, which praised Bush's China policy and pondered what the future might hold.

"Given the popular American eagerness for a break from the Bush years, many wonder, or worry, to be precise, whether the new president would ignore the hard-earned progress in bilateral ties," the editorial says.
"

guess i run in different circles from all yall who share a world view with the proc.

hat exactly do you know about this "articulate, intelligent, constitutional scholar"

enough to reasonably conclude it's an accurate description of a guy who graduated from columbia, graduated magna cum laude with a jd from harvard law (where he was selected editor of harvard law review during his first year and its president in his secod year) and went on to become a professor of constitutional law at u of il for 12 years.

much as i hate admitting this, despite the pleasure i derive from listening to a talented speaker deliver an address worthy of his skill, i keep catching myself a lil bit disappointed when he finishes without horribly mangling even one word or saying something so stupid it takes your breath away.  it's almost like not having a president.

The President of the US is a leader....and leading isn't about skin color or smooth talking ability or not. At the end of the day, the differences between the Bush and Obama presidencies will be judged upon where and how they lead our country in peace, freedom and social justice for all.

A couple of points....

China is Communist and as such is not concerned with human rights. Abortion, infanticide, embryonic stem cell research and euthanasia are crimes aganst humanity which no human law can claim to legitimate. Bush's administration went after China's "One Child" policy carried out by forced abortions. Given Obama's immoral pro-abortion (including infanticide) voting record and  campaign promises to the Planned Parenthood industry, America will become the most anti-life country in the world.

At a Washington prayer breakfast some 17 years ago, Blessed Mother Theresa said  "any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That's why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion."

Obama wrote books and campaigned on the theme of hope....it seems to me that if we take anything from Bl. Mother Theresa's statement, it's that unless and until abortion is stricken from America, there will never be hope for peace, freedom and social justice.

We often heard Pres. Bush say, God bless America, but never in a mocking way.....not so with Pres. Obama. Is Almighty God going to bless America when her leader signs into "law" the most egregious blood-letting of God's innocents?

so...you're saying obama has at some point said, mockingly, the words "god bless america"?

quite a serious accusation if so.  one demanding answers to such questions as:  when, where, witnessed by whom?

the blessed mother kingbee isn't convinced hatred and warfare aren't much more likely the greatest destroyers of love and peace.

Hundreds of thousands of people heard Pres. Obama ask "God Bless America" and then on the next day, he mocked God and His commandment "Thou shalt not kill" by issuing an executive order that uses American taxpayers' money to fund organizations that promote and execute abortions in Third World countries. Their blood is upon our hands.

Tearing apart and killing a baby in the womb by abortion is the ultimate hatred and warfare against that little defenseless person.

We all know experientially that we always reap what we sow.   I know it's my mantra but we always pick what we plant.  As I heard that the abortion laws are about to become as lax as ever including the parental notification laws being a thing of the past, I can't help but thing what Obama is bringing upon himself as I look at his two little precious girls.

Remember he said himself, he would not wish an unwanted pregnancy on his daughters.

He may get exactly what he wishes for, thereby being a part of the murder of his own grandchild someday.

I heard today there were thousands picketing capitol Hill today on this very issue.  I'm wondering how many of them out there picketing were there a few days ago cheering on inauguration day?

after reading the following allegation by lula:

i responded thusly:

to which lula replied:

in other words, obama didn't really utter the phrase "god bless america" while smirking and rolling his eyes or in any other disrespectful manner a reasonable person might perceive to be "a mocking way"?

deliberately issuing false, misleading or deceptive accusations most certainly makes a mockery of truth.

Kingbee,

People can mock Almighty God in many ways. Read Galatians 6:7-10. Obama professes to be Christian. And he, in leadership with the power and authority as President of the USA, in one breath asks God blessings upon America, and in the next breath, uses his power and authority to advance abortion across the world.  With this, Kingbee, Pres. Obama has treated God and His Law with contempt. Make no mistake...God doesn't let Himself be treated with contempt...He will requite such conduct on the part of man.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm not saying he's not representing all who live in America

OK, good to hear!

How is it contradictory?

Because what I understood you saying is that had Obama been a black Republican, who thought the way you did you might have accepted him. but being a black Democrat who has the views he does you dont.

I do agree with you about the family values though, not just for other Black men, the ones who are such irresponsible parents, but for any irresponsible father!

res. Obama has treated God and His Law with contempt.

maybe the media has convinced god that he's gotta give obama a lil extra consideration and he's gonna let this one slide.

god just told me he doesn't feel anywhere near as badly mocked by obama as he did when gw bush was governor of texas. after all, bush violated his oath of office and the first amendment proclaiming an official state jesus day but didn't  intervene to save the lives of 152 people executed by that same state.  he also asked me to remind you the fifth commandment doesn't allow wiggle room for capital punishment.

But that's not a contradiction.   That's no different than saying I wouldn't vote for Ted Kennedy (a white guy) who is a Democrat but I'd vote for George Bush (another white guy) because he's a Republican.  There's no contradiction there.  For me (and for most) it has nothing to do with color but with issues.

A contradiction is saying one thing and doing another.  So if I said I would never vote for a black (because I'm racist)  and then vote for a black because I found out he was going to give me something (like money in my pocket) that would be a contradiction.

I do agree with you about the family values though, not just for other Black men, the ones who are such irresponsible parents, but for any irresponsible father!

and I don't disagree but you have to admit the blacks (especially young black men)  don't have a slew of good role models in the black community to follow.   They have needed a strong leader for some time now who would challenge them to do the right thing for themselves their families.  Jesse Jackson just doesn't do it.

SNipped this because you make a HUGE point here and I will most likely be called a biggot for this...but Jesse Jackson is doing exactly NO GOOD for blacks...
