President Obama

President Barack Obama.

I think Americans have voted for one of the most intelligent and capable people to have ever run for President, as well as one of the most compassionate and with a genuine interest in working with people. I congratulate you on your choice of President. I don't expect miracles, but I think that my bank balance in 2012 will be in the best possible circumstances given the financial crisis and I think that I will be proud of what our militaries do jointly. President Obama is a truly inspiring person. I stayed up til 4am to watch him be inaugurated and I am proud to say that I saw history being made.

I am young so I have not often seen history being made. Princess Diana's death. The Federal Apology to the Stolen Generations. The Inauguration of USA President Barack Obama.

I'll say it one more time: President Barack Obama.

May I ask where are you located that you were up till 4 AM? I myself was sick so was able to see it live from my house since I took the day off.

I am glad you are happy with his inaguration. As a proud American who upholds everything this country was built on, I may not like him as President, but I respect him and will support him (to a certain extent of course). He will, after all, represent us around the world. The elections were fair and it's the way our country functions and it's proof our fgor of Democracy works.

Let's put our differences aside for a moment and look forward to a better future. In the end Obama can help fix things (or make it worse but  lets hope for the best right?) but it is our responsibility to make things better. For no matter how much money any President throws around, if we don't change our spending habbits, our credit lifestyle and our priorities from "wants" first to "needs" first, all his hard work will be pointless.

Oh please quote one intelligent statement Obama has made, something fundamentally cleverer than other politicians'.

I'm a firm believer in "do the crime, do the time". The majority of American people voted for Obama, our democratic system works that way, now we shall reap the benefits of our beliefs. If he screws up, we have only ourselves to blame, for those who voted for him will have to live with the same they did and those who didn't will have to live with the shame that McCain was the only thing we could come up with.

Champas, it is good to know that not everyone feels the spirit of doom!   I think it was very uplifting to see so many people feeling inspired!

You still have not seen a lot of history made.  Di's death?  Give me a break!  Are you really that shallow?

Oh, I know a _NASTY_ joke about that!

Dr Gu, since I last blogged you appear to have become illiterate. I said I had not seen much history being made in the article. Diana's death may not have been important to Americans, however I live in a country where Diana was actually a member of my royal family and her funeral was watched by an unprecedented number of people with every single TV sation choosing to air it live. Your interest is neither here nor there, it was a significant moment witnessed by millions.

Charles, I live in Australia. And I actually agree with you about the need for everyone to change their own irresponsible spending habits. I just happen to believe that Government has a role to play in this too.

Leauki, maybe the Webster's is open-minded enough to include the word "cleverer", but the Macquarie isn't, so as I can't be bothered going through each of Obama's speeches for you, I'll simply point to the fact that he doesn't use made up words as evidence of his intelligence and leave it at that. You disagreeing with Obama does not mean he is not intelligent. Here, I'll even show you some bipartisanship here to demonstrate that you can recognise intelligence where there is no agreement. I once read an interview with GW Bush where I was surprised by how intelligently he spoke about Iraq. You see? It can be done. But I'm not surprised that you are incapable of doing that. Your contributions are a waste of time and I feel upset with myself for even bothering to type this paragraph.

Thanks fs. I had forgotten in my absence from blogging how incredibly one-eyed the JU community is. It saddens me, but fortunately in real life I know right wingers who are more open-minded and interesting to talk to.

Coming back to this, may I note that Champas-Socialist has not answered my question but instead attacked my (correct) grammar.

I don't know what my opinion of President Obama has to do with Champas-Socialist's ability to quote even one intelligent statement Obama had made.

And perhaps, given that Champas-Socialist believes that "cleverer" is a made-up term, he is not as capable of spotting intelligence as he thinks he is.

Curiouser and curiouser...

Is this real or satire? Not sure how to approach it in either condition

In situations like this it's best to ask for an example and then wait a year to see them being unable to come up with even one.

HA, Leauki! You have the patience.  You crack me up!  When ever the L-RD will's us to get together we'll have some great conversation and fun correcting each other to use the right words.  An example is chip.  A chip to me is a potato chip.  A chip to an individual in the UK is a french fry.

Champas did say ' Your contributions are a waste of time and I feel upset with myself for even bothering to type this paragraph.'  Maybe Leauki, you made Champas so upset that he became filled with rage and now he is a rageaholic.  Due to him being a rageaholic he probably destroyed his computer in a fit of rage due to your paragraph writing.

There is one solution to this........ Leauki, you must stop writing paragraphs and write 5 or less sentences.  I think that's what the academic world considers a paragraph to be.

I'm curious if the OP still has the same wide-eyed optimism he had during the inauguration. I realize not much about "the most transparent" administration in history is shown on US TV, let alone in Australia. Of course I imagine of anyone with "socialist" in their moniker, will be quite pleased with Obama.

Funny thing is, while he reveled in the election of Rudd, he is not at all happy with his performance.  I have not seen him write a lot, but I have heard that while Rudd pays a lot of lip service to the left down under, he has not done a lot for them.  So the promises of election have given way to the realities of governance.

And I do not think Rudd will survive the next election.  I hope that is one thing we have in common with the Aussies.  One term disasters.
