Hey, really hope things work out man, it's been a bitch for a lot of us here, so no one wants to see a friend hurting.  Try to keep us updated and best of luck with the VA.

Finding work right now has to be hard.  Most of us here probably don't have an apprreciation of what you are going through.  Not much help but hang in there and know that the community is here and will try and help where and when it can.

I hate this....genuinely good folks being hurt and the scum getting bonuses. BDBF....my thoughts and prayers go with you, wherever-the-hell you are!

Well, latest update.  I'm now in a VA program.  I really like this place.  I have a clean room to sleep in.  I have my own shower and bathroom!  I'm eating well.  I have access to computers.  And, best of all, a well organized program to assist me in obtaining re-employment.  I'm sure it will take some months to get things going for me but, I'm more confident now than I've been in awhile.  There really is a light at the end of this tunnel.

So very glad to hear the good news BDBF.  Keep us up on how things progress.

It's a shame it took this long for them to do something for you. And I agree with your view of America and how it treats the people in this country...it's especially sad how it treats our vets...shamefully. Glad your finally seeing some light for a change.

BDBF, I'm glad you're doing better. My father went through the same things after coming home from Vietnam. Sickness, joblessness, homelessness..... it's amazing how well our government takes care of its vets. I hope the VA gives you whatever it takes to help you get back on your feet......

in life you can fall a long way but you cant fall forever you will hit bottom and when you have done that, thats when you start to climb back up.. it might seem like everest but imagine the feeling when your standing at the top looking back down and the sun is shining and the wind is blowing.... never give up.

Well its October 22 and a little update on me.  I'm still looking for a way to have income.  Not much hiring taking place.  I've had four job interviews but no employment offers.  I complete at least 4 job applications per week. 

I feed myself by buying groceries using food stamps (a government program).  It's a good program.  It's easy to comply with the laws that make food stamps possible and with some effort, it's not too hard to buy economically and eat healthy. 

So although I don't have any income yet, I can still be thankful for what is available.  I'm still hoping things will change for me soon.

Good luck, man. It's a crap economy out there still, but maybe things will pick up in the next few months. At least you're doing all the things you need to do to take care of yourself.
