What needs to be done.

Stardock / Wincustomize subscriptions need to be combined.  Separate annual complementary subscriptions are overwhelming and unnecessary.

This combined subscription needs to include all master skins released up until the end of the subscription including all prior.

Stardock needs to develop their software for the most up to date operating system, compatible with both 32 and 64 bit operating systems.  The entire Object Desktop package should qualify, not just the core.

All software only compatible only with 32 bit operating systems and XP needs to be either upgraded or discarded entirely.

Cavemen (XP users) need to eventually upgrade their stone computers.

Both Stardock and WinCustomize struck out looking on Vista, at least swing the bat for Windows 7.

"Cavemen (XP users) need to eventually upgrade their stone computers"

You are talking about the 60% of PC users that are still using XP, especially commercial users.  We're not using Vista for a reason.  If you were to perhaps make suggestions instead of telling a company what they ought to do, you might get your point across much better.IMHO

from the mouths of babes ............ maybe investigating before making such harsh comments is warranted.

I'll quit being a caveman just as soon as you want to foot the bill for a new OS for me.  No wait...not even then.  My work plateform isn't Vista compatible, so....no.  I'm not upgrading just so I can have the latest "in" thing. which would mean I would have to have two computers, one for work and one for looking pretty (trophy box?).  In a time when so many of us are having to make due and be grateful for what we have....labeling us cavemen and saying we NEED to upgrade just sounds so....spoiled, rotten brat-like.

I didn't play with the in-crowd in high school, and I'm not going it now.

You go!!!  Amen to that...

Y'know?  I kind of wonder just how many of us 'Cavemen/women' did?  :|

Well put angus1949 and k10w3. OP sounds like a person who wants it 'thier way' and not too concerned about the rest of the community.

Excuse me but, cutting support and applications for 32bit windows and xp users, just doesn't make sense when quite a few people don't have Vista; for whatever reason that maybe. I have an install disk, but am very comfortable using XP at the moment.

And like angus said, suggest, don't demand, people will listen more, common sence should tell you that.

I know they're out there someplace, wearing their high-priced designer versions of whatever I throw on to protect me from the elements, which is why I don't attend high school reunions.  I'm sure they'll still be mocking me when we're all in nursing homes because my walker isn't as cool and cutting edge as their motorized scooter.  I'm going to get even with them all by outliving them!  }:)

You all are interpreting it in the wrong way.  As a vista user who was intersected in enhancements I looked to stardock and wincustomize and was significantly let down.  More people own PS2s then PS3s but the software is developed for the PS3.  My entire comment is a suggestion, not a demand.  It's easy to join a crowd and point a finger, but that won’t lead to change.

If that'd the case, then this statement is what was unneccessary:

All software only compatible only with 32 bit operating systems and XP needs to be either upgraded or discarded entirely.

Cavemen (XP users) need to eventually upgrade their stone computers.

IMO

Well, if we're talking about engineering everything towards the future, we should just skip Vista and go right on to Windows 7.  That makes YOU the caveman.  Once again, let me remind you that the world is in a recession.  Maybe ignoring what most people have and just creating for the newest thing to come out isn't the best thing to do right now.  Read up on the Great Depression and get some survival skills, because I think they'll come in much more handy than the latest cutting edge toy.

vStyler's right...definitely Generation E.

And while we're at it, let's cut support for people who...

* have monitors smaller than 30"

* have less than 16 gigs of RAM

* don't watch at least 8 hours of sport per day

* have a CPU smaller than 4.4 ghz

* don't speak pirate on 'International Speak Like a Pirate Day'

* havent got a cordless keyboard & mouse

* don't believe in UFO's

* drive on the right side of the road

* didn't vote for Barack Obama and have never seen a sky-blue pink elephant.

Oh, and anyone fitting into more than one of the above categories receives a life-long ban and need not apply.

:-" ;P :w00t:

I'm not wearing a wig.  If/when my hair all falls out, I'm just going natural, and people can guess whether I'm a woman or man.  Plus, remember my eyesight isn't that good to start out with...I won't even see you drive past me in the first place. :P

But then again when you are 75 ill be 50 looking at 25yo blondes sitting in my red sportscar... yeah i know im gonna be one of those.

I'm already one of those, except I don't have the red sportscar.  I've been called a Cougar many times, and I grill my kids regularly to keep up with the the new words for things, so I stay on top of my game.

True story:  My youngest sister (I have three sisters, one 8 years younger than me, and two of them one year younger than me) sent me a birthday card that said, "Happy 50th birthday! Cheer up! 50 is much cooler than 40. That's why the rapper doesn't call himself "40 Cent." - and then she wrote inside the card, I figured you're the only one of my sisters that has any clue who 50 cent is. That alone makes you cooler, and younger, than them!

"Cavemen (XP users) need to eventually upgrade their stone computers"

So when Windows 7 comes out, will the Vista users become neanderthals or would it be cromagnam? I sucked in science.

I'm just happy WC supports both. They could probably svae a lot of time and money by cutting some XP stuff out.

As far as Stardock 'keeping up', take a look around. I only got Vista a few months ago and I don't forsee being able to jump to W7 when it comes out for quite a while. I think Stardock does an excellent job of not just keeping up with what changes quicker than you can update your newsfeed, but at getting us info and previews on the changes in the OS's and their own software.

Once in a while, I think or imagine I have a handle on all the griping and whining. You have a generation of folks who get comfortable aren't entirely open to change. They (I, we) are sometimes dragged reluctantly, kicking, screaming, softly sobbing...but we adapt, accept, adjust, and learn to like it or love it. A few hate it, but go with the flow. Then, there is the other generation. A generation unfamiliar with a world void of remote controls, 257 channels, cell phones, texting, vinyl discs, etc. They are used to getting what they want, now. Instant gratification. If it breaks, buy a new one. (yes, I believe we now live in a disposable world)  They either have no concept of what it takes for folks to keep up or don't care beacuse they bellyache as soon as they feel they or whatever it is they feel they want or need at that moment hsa lapsed and inconvenienced them because it has not kept up with whatever they use to set the bar.

When I try to resolve this in my own mind, I come up with this. Get over it. Change is inevitable. I think the only thing that hasn't changed in the last 50 years is toilet paper.  Change either comes to fast or to slow. But it always comes. Enjoy it. Revel in it. Explore it. Even if it is change you don't care for, and you have to turn somewhwre else to find what you want, that in itself is an adventure. Then, while going over all this in my warper head, I always here Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. "Anything different is good."

That's because they were comparing today's weed with weed that was 50 years old. (For somebody as clean and sober as I am, I know WAY too much about weed).
