A little effort to raise funds for our own WC

Hi Fellows!

As you know that we are having a WC Sub Drive going on! To give a bit of help I offer a new WC or renewal to the 150th poster in this thread! There is no bounds of the topic! Just speak what-so-ever you want but keep withing ethical limits! No flaming and no personal attacks!

So here we go!

What you need now is the strategic placement of fans.  When our A/C went out a couple years ago, we cooled the whole house (1600 sq.ft.) with one window unit by placing fans at optimal places to circulate the cool (and most importantly DRY) air to the rest of the house.  Keep the fans at the level of the A/C or a little below (because cool air sinks) at each exit point in the room with the A/C.  Of course, keep all the windows drawn to keep out the sun, and turn off all electrical appliances that aren't absolutely necessary.  If this just isn't cutting it, tack blankets up over the room exits and just keep the one room cool.

It's not a comfortable as central air, but it beats the alternative of doing nothing and just boiling in your own perspiration.

Karen, what I need is an industrial sized air-con or 2, or 3 or 4, it's a heatwave here mateX| X| X|

I <3 the heat.

I'd much rather boil than freeze.

Although, it's probably preferable to freeze than to boil, literally speaking. :|

I hate it Digi, it's easier to get warm than to get cool, unless you have a decent air-con, or a pool, you're gonna fry :'( <-- Like I am now!

Get a wet towel, put it around your shoulders/head and sit next to the fan.  That flowing air will keep the towel cool and help to draw away the heat.  ;)  It's not ideal but it helps. :)

I've tried that, it works pretty well actually, what I'd love is to sit in a tub full of ice, but all my ice cube trays are broken!!:'(

That's what we used to do years ago.  I hate heat.  I'm house bound here in Florida in the summer.  Has to be cold to breathe.
