I use Impulse and I see DesktopX not DesktopX Pro.  The verison of DesktopX Impulse shown is 3.50.060 last updated 8/5/08.

I hope this information will help.  You can also right click on the upper left qlobe of Impulse and chose the update option or

preferences.

This is what I have, it don't say pro in Impulse, but Pro is what I have. Check yours, Pro allows to save as a gadget.

I have OD Ultimate and I thought DesktopX Pro as a component.  Impulse also shows DesktopX 3.50.060-8/5/08.  My problem is when trying to export a widget that I made as a gadget, I get this error message.  What's up?  Is Standard or Pro included with OD Ultimate?

DesktopX Pro is a seperate purchase. DesktopX may come with ODNT Ult. but in it's basic version. I have Pro, but Impulse shows me DesktopX.            .Pro costs a little more than the standard.   O:)

Jim is right ObjectDesktop comes with the standard version of DX you have to purchase DX Pro to be able to make a gadget

OK, the full price of ODNT DX Pro is like $70.00.  Is there a discounted upgrade price for OD Ultimate users?

If memory serves, I asked that when I upgraded and there wasn't. Sorry.  :|

I have a ticket into sales Doc.  I'll let all know what comes out on this issue.

No.  There is no discount.  Sorry.

So it's the full $70 to add one function over standard, when standard is already in OD Ultimate?..............whew, to steep for me Zub.

You think that is steep Angus. When DX Pro was first released it was well over $400. I had my employer purchase it.

The next year (I believe) the price was lowered to this.

It's not a hobbyist price tis true.  But when you can create erally complex apps that don't need an external engin you can sell themand recoup your cost easily.

Phoon . . I remember those days.  The wife was NOT interested in allowing that.  However . . when it dropped I was able to use the argument that is was 3.5(x) and now it was "only (x).  :)

I still wasn't allowed to buy it of course . . . X(

That's easier to say than for you to type...lol! This is true, but I have yet to recoup anything. But I haven't tried. >_>

Wow.

That may be a record.  :typo: :typo: :typo: :typo: :typo: :typo:

Costs a bit, when you're in another country, with a lower dollar value.X|

Latest version of DesktopX STANDARD in Impulse: 3.50.060

Latest version of DesktopX PROFESSIONAL in Impulse: 3.50.016

Different version numbers for different products.

DesktopX Pro is definitely not a product for the light user or hobbyist.  The fact that you can create a gadget and export it as a standalone application, that doesn't require DesktopX to be installed on the machine to run, makes it a pretty powerful application development platform.  This is what gives it the steep upgrade price.

I currently have pro. At what point do I face the choice to renew, or keep the old version I own?

The version you have is good forever.  When DX 4 rolls out you have teh choice of upgrading or not.

My Birthday is coming soon. Is there a DX 4 Pro coming in the next year?

Jim is pro worth it? I for one, like you will never try to sale anything. But sure would be nice to make a stand alone sidebar gadget for everyone. I still get requests for them but pro always looks so pricey to me.

Jim I just got an idea. Have your wife buy it for me. lol :D   Me jealous. You have a supporting wife.

May be i can beg my wife for it for my Birthday. Yup sounds good to me.lol

I've pro but i cheated O:)   I bought it when the euro/dollars balance make it like half of his prize :X

It worth it for sure

This is what I was thinking, really not a bad deal.

Don, if you want to make standalones, it is well worth it. But, worth is a relative term. What seems "worth it" to me may be outrageous to you. I would love to have one of those three monitor systems, but in this economy, at this time, It is not worth it to me just to have 3 screens. My 26" HDTV will have to do...lol.
