Hello new recruits and enlistees. Welcome to the Metaverse. This forum post is for all newcomers to GalCiv2, or just newcomers to the MV. If you're not sure what empire to join on the MV, make a reply on this post and the leaders/senators of the MV empires will take a look and offer you the chance to join their empires.

A Brief Overview on the MV

The Metaverse is one of a kind in that you can play on it whenever you want, and you don't have to go through the complicated process of setting up a game like you do in a regular Multiplayer format. You have three character slots. These slots are your tickets into the MV and into MV empires. Once you've created a character, you can choose to add him to an already existing empire. That's where this post comes in. If you are unsure about which empire to join, or if you are unsure about which empires are currently still active in the MV, this is the place to go for that information. If you have any questions or comments, post to this thread and either myself or a browsing veteran will respond as soon as possible.

I am not entirely certain on how popular this post is going to be. The MV is kind of at a standstill right now, but their are still people posting to it and adding to their empires scores. I encourage anyone who is not currently part of an empire to make a character and join one. Like I said before, any questions that you have on how to do this can be posted right here on this thread. Being active in the Metaverse is just another great part about GalCiv2.

Finally, I am going to try and keep an updated list of active MV empires, and also one of currently "dead" empires. I'm only going to list dead empires that are in the Top 15, but I will be willing to list any empire, no matter what rank, that is currently active in the MV. If a player comes to this thread and sees that their active empire isn't in my list, please feel free to drop me a reply so that I can add you to the list of actives. Also, you may have noticed that some of the active empires have their names as links. If you click on one of these links, you will be taken directly to that empire's official thread.    Oh no! The  computer cliched sent a double post then when I tried to delete, I couldn't so ersased the post and Oh man, but I missed my banner, sorry about that. :pout: So there no way to delete a double but then what I do now.

   Edit:  I thought of question? This will scare me if this happens. :O If someone wants to join my Empire, what do I do? How do I accpet someone into my Empire. Then what?

Those that post scores frequently and also have some chat on the forums earn the status "Active." Those that only post scores, and not very often at that, got the "Quiet" column. The rest of the major empires that had "fallen" got the last column.

NOTICE: It appears a new Metaverse Empire has arisen to power. The Windae Hingin Scotsmen is a new Empire, ruled by the veteran player Snarkotamus, and it has its own thread, so they have been added to the "Active" list, though they will need to prove themselves on the Metaverse, as well as the forums.

If you click the link above, you will be sent to the WHS's official thread, where there is a run-down of what the Empire is really about. I encourage my fellow players to go on over and welcome the new Empire to the MV, even though its leader is not that new. Also, if you read the OP in the thread, you'll see that the WHS is quite different from your average MV Empire.

Finally, I extend my personal greetings to the Windae Hingin Scotsmen, and wish them the best of luck in the MV. I look forward to seeing what this type of Empire is really capable of. It should be very interesting.

The scaffy new empire's thread is here. I think the venerable Snark should give us non-Scots a link or two to help us parse the local vernacular. I couldn't find anything really tight on a quick web skim. For example, the Scottish Vernacular Dictionary at firstfoot.com defined "scaffy," but it uses the word "windae" in several definitions without explicitly calling it out as a Scot spelling for what us colonials would type as "window" (which is just my best guess from context).

Star federation sounds a lot like the United Federation of planets.

Meh who knows, there are so many races that call themselves a federation I lost count. I'd invite you to stay at my place for a short bit but the last few federation leaders I invited didn't return.

NOTICE: Okay, some major updates to the lists have been completed.

  • The Geckodon Alliance has gone from "Active" to "Inactive".
  • The Raiders and the B.C. Space Orcas have been demoted from "Active" to "Active/Quiet".
  • The Galactic Domination Alliance has been removed from the MVRC after a search turned-up no evidence of their existence.
  • The Terran Homeworld Alliance has been added to the "Active/Quiet" list after a search discovered some recent game submissions were coming from one of their members.

...those are just the first a quite a few changes that will occur to the list. The Raiders and the B.C. Space Orcas are very close to being placed in the "Inactive" list, along with the United Confederation of Planets. The Twilight Pub really doesn't count as an MV "Empire", so they may be removed from the listings all-together, leaving only four total Empires in the "Active" list, which is a sad reflection on the state of the Metaverse. Hopefully we will see a slight surge of new/renewed members when the promised update/patch for GC2 is released.

Edit: Also, the Star Federation will not be added to the list until they have proven themselves a bit more. Keep at it though...it's great to see some new members joining the GC2 universe.

Well, they said that the Twilight Pub wasn't meant to appear as a competitive MV Empire, but I see your point. They will stay on the "Active" list. They are in the Top 10 after all.

Don't listen to me, Cypher. I haven't posted a game in far too long, and I regularly scoff competitive playing. If Snark says it isn't a real empire (I hadn't caught that), then it isn't.

Nah, I have no problem with them staying in the "Active" list. They've been posting scores pretty regularly, and they've got some dedicated members who post on the forums. And if I removed them, there would only be 4 empires on the "Active" list, which is kinda depressing.

GW...you have knowledge of the game and share what you have learned in the forums...but....your true talent is the ability to insert one part of the anatomy into another part of the anatomy.  You choose...foot or head.
