None of the Windows customization apps will work on Ubuntu because... well... they are designed to change the Windows UI, not Gnome or KDE.

Don't think most people need to check a video or anything. It has been around for some time now. Nothing revolutionary. I mean it's cool and all, but still. o_O

I'd have to agree...very cool indeed.

Object Desktop requires XP or Vista. I haven't seen support dicussed for Unix, Linux, Mac or the other OS's.

:S

*Edit. Something's gotta be done about the refresh rate, Zoomba. Also about my typing speed, SD got anything for that?

Sounds African to me. You know, like one of those rituals where naked people get covered in red paint and dance.

Or maybe a community supporting all?

Archbishop Desmond Tutu:

"A person with Ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed."

It's a lovely sentiment, and I ordered an Ubuntu disk simply because I align with that philosophy....but it sits in my desk drawer, because I don't know how to USE anything but Windows and I'm not willing to devote such an important aspect of my livelihood to experimenting with something I'm not familiar with.

Ah, so you're not technoligically bi-curious then? ;p

You didn't know how to use Windows once either.  Seriously though, Ubuntu just might be the easiest Linux distro for Windows users to pick up.  You'd be amazed at how similar the interface is to Win2K/XP.

ROFLMAO!  Curious, yes.  Brave enough to experiment...not at this age in my life.

To quote myself from a similar post years ago:

An OS is the bit that allows communication from the hardware you have to the apps you want to use.
It doesn't have to be an "us or them" in the end.  It's better for everyone if it's "us and them"

I know people still using ME and they are thrilled with it.  Same with 98, XP, OSX, OS8.1, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Damn Small, etc.  It doesn't friggin' matter.

Find the applications, security, hardware, price-point, support services, and usability you are comfortable with and then use whatever OS fits you best.

I use Vista and XP daily.  I use Ubuntu monthly and I used OSX off and on over the past few years.  Whatever floats your boat, right?

I love ubuntu and use that OS daily, as well as windows vista at home. :)

Of course it's not perfect, but same time what OS is perfect?

Do you believe thare are apps or taks that makes one better than the other for you?

For me the key is interoperability with friends and family.  As the resident "tech" it's better for me to use Windows because that's what they use.  MS Office is key to my day-to-day activities . . that means Windows for the best interaction.
