Question:
I play the Vasari and the other night in a lan game with friends, an Advent, who spammed carriers decimated my fleet of several cap ships and many smaller ships (this was in my planet's well with some defenses set up as well.
What are some good strats to counter spammed carriers???

1. Go carriers yourself, build fighters, and research the crap out of phase missiles. He will have more fighters because he is Advent, but your fighters will hit alot harder, and you will be able to field 3 carriers for every two of his cause Drone hosts are pricy. You can ignore his fighters and go mostly bombers too, if you want. Vasari bombers are tough, and if you have enough of them you will destroy his drone hosts before the drones reduce your bombers...
2. If he is only building drone hosts you can counter with light frigates. You want 3 for every one of his carriers. Research regeneration and chase his carriers down. If you want bring in some flak and research Charged missiles, but you are going to need an aweful lot to make a dent in his strikecraft.
3. Get Vasari Cap Carriers and Battleships. Both have abilities which should give your strikecraft an advantage.
That's kind of what I was figuring the answer was...just didn't know if there was some other ideas of things to do as well. THanks for the advice.
I tried something I read on the forum today. Build a kortul and go for the jam weapons all the way it will let you gain a decisive over his carriers/bombers with even a smaller fleet, hell it even made the charged missiles sentinels worth it.
Too get the kortul in striking range keep your fleet around him if they want too really hurt him their bombers and fighters will have too get in jam weapons range.
This is probebly what ke5tel meant though with the combat cap.
