I just purchased The Political Machine (2004) and I can't install because it says I have the wrong serial number

from Stardock Forums

Everytime I try to download/install The Political Machine (2004) it tells me that I am using the wrong serial number and won't let me. I came here and read another post saying that it previously never had a serial number, and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it? Has anyone else had this problem?

How did you purchase?

Are you downloading via Impulse?

If you click on the ? in the upper right of impulse you can have it send you your registration codes.  Have you done that?

On the same ? you can add registration codes to your email account.

used impulse, came with the serial number, then i had impulse email me the serial and it was the same one. I even copy and pasted it and it was still invalid. i just entered a ticket with stardock support.

Oddly, *I* just purchased "The Political Machine" and I can't install it because IMPULSE SAYS THAT I'M OFFLINE!!!! I'm posting here, how the hell am I offline?

 

ETA: oh, pardon me, now I can't install because Impulse needs to patch itself. 

I JUST INSTALLED IMPULSE FROM THE EXECUTABLE THAT STARDOCK FORCED ON ME WHEN I BOUGHT TPM!  Seriously, what the hell.
