I'm what's been called a harvester, which is what most of us are. I don't love skinning; I love skins and skinners. I'm also new to the concept of skinning; however, I turn on my wincustomize browse every night and see what's new. I have been through the entire WindowBlinds and IconPackager libraries and visited many sites. I'm not a casual user, I have downloaded several thousand skins, and on dialup at that. I'm saying all this to provide a background to my observations.                                 Right from the beginning of this contest, it became apparent that the level of artistry in the skinning world has taken a great leap forward, and as the days went by, that level increased. The originality is amazing; if you don't have to have a picture of a computer as a My Computer icon, for instance, then you're in heaven. The WB skins are great, as well. Look at how many excellent skins we have here, and think how hard it will be to pick a winner.                                                                   Another thing is that we are walking the virtual halls with most of the greatest skinners on the planet (I'm thinking of treetog especially, who is all over the place) and they are offering their comments and advice freely.                                                I'd like to offer my thanks to all the artists who submitted their work, and to the organizers who made this happen; it's quite a change from the 2006 championships.

i agree with you., the skills shown all over the contest are amazing, but what i do admire is the design and funtions of the new GUIC site, i know about the Flash Vertion issue but is not such a big problem if you know how to fix it.

Good lucke to everyone!  ;) :waaaa: ......................................

I agree especially with the icon packages. if you look at:

Plain Truth 2

The level is INCREDIBLE. I am also thankful for the ability to harvest....please join us, willistuder and post in the screen shots forum. I feel, as others that while the stuff is "free", the artists at least get some rewards by seeing their work in action, so to speak.

That forum unites the skinners and harvesters in the best of ways.

Thanks for posting!

There is a gallery at Wincustomize where you can upload you screenshots (Gallery | Uploader)and there is a monthly post where you can show what you are using (upload to an image hosting site and post the image there).

One thing I failed to mention is that the skinners I've come in contact with have almost always replied to messages; some bend over bacwards to be helpful, and some even send you unreleased files. I'm from the music world, and cutthroat wouldn't be an overstatement to describe it. It was a refreshing surprise to encounter the skinning world, and the decency and consideration that prevails in it. The fact that it is free for the most part is amazing. I've bought some skins, and I wish there was some way to financially reward the effort put into these works. Thanks, again.
