But, yeah, that is not supposed to happen. Though I haven't preordered it myself so I wouldn't know. But that's what is says on the preorder screen.

Yep, my credit card was charged today.  I am 99.99% sure that it was a mistake on SDs part but I would be very happy to pay it to get into a pre-beta test.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind being charged in advance, since I don't want outstanding stuff "standing by"; I'd be much happier if I had the opportunity to pay in advance.

Well, I guess sort of, but I went to high school long before everyone carried phones and pretended to write using a num pad. So I had a rash assumption that if "anyone else" was "anyone other than my friend X," Sammual would have written it that way to start with.

Plus, I thought you were being snarky, which your followup suggests was a mistaken impression.

Re the billing question, I pre-ordered with TGN tokens, so my relevant card transaction was back when I bought the tokens to pre-order for the GC2 Twilight beta. IIRC, there were some CC oopsies during other Stardock game betas and the folks in Michigan were very helpful about working things out.

I seriously sympathize with what you say about the practical business of wanting to spend your money or know it's in the bank. But there is a bit of geek drama to be had with the way Stardock have been working it, at least since the Dark Avatar beta. When the bits go gold, there's a shameless swarm of slavering fanbrats counting coup about having their card billed, getting their key email, and starting their download of the RTM version. It can be fun if your real life is slow that day.

My card has not been charged.  Are you sure it was for Elemental, though?

That does seem pretty coincidental.

I remember hearing something about that when the Sins beta was in progress.  It might be a temporary, or not so temporary, hold on the cash because you're using a checkcard instead of an actual credit card.  I myself haven't run into that issue, I use a Visa checkcard as well, but supposedly it exists.

If you only just preordered, then it's probably just a hold and will disappear after 24-48 hours.

yeah, I had that too and thought I got my preorder for demigod beta.  But I didn't, it was just my card responding to the fact that it was swiped.  It should both still be in pending, and if you have bank of america it won't be deducted from the overall account.
