Bear Cavalry is to EoM as Pink Space Ponies is to SoaSE?

Thankfully, the Pink Space Ponies "thing" from Sins of a Solar Empire hasn't carried over to Elemental.  However, as I've been reading through the forums, I see more and more references to bear cavalry (and not just from one person).  So, at least for now it seems like the Bear Cavalry is the new, official mascot of Elemental.  Granted, the Beta hasn't even begun yet, but that's only a matter of time.

Growl?

That's what I think of when I hear of this.

Stardock really have no option, there will be bear cavalery in EWoM. Unlike pink space ponies the bear cavalery would completly fit with the setting of the game.

But now that it's mentioned, I kinda want the ponies too :D

Zombie Kittens?

Zots?

What is it with weird forum in-jokes anyway?

Although zots is definitely the most excellent description possible of man-hours / feature implementation possibilities.

Haha, never you mind. I mostly just lurk on the Bioware forums actually. The devs there dribble out little bits of information so slowly it drives me mad.

Have a fishy stick.

but pink space ponies ARE in SoaSE.   there is a very small random chance they will be found on a planet when explored.  They do nothing but exist.

They give an achievement or something like that too.

It was first brought up as a random suggestion in a "what units do you want to see in elemental" thread.

It stayed because I think everobody deep inside just wants to ride a bear.  Just like everybody wants to be an astronaught, they also want to ride a bear.

Obviously. There's no other way to explain it.

...or is there?

Deep inside I just want to ride Nicole Kidman. You just know she is a bear! Rawr! Rawr! Rawr!

For those that dont get the reference there was a recent movie named The Golden Compass with bears you could ride. The following image is for you:

Yeah except that movie sucked. I heard that the studio who made it was hoping it would be the beginning of their next LoTR in terms of box office success. Instead it flopped so badly that they canceled the two sequels they were planning. I hear the books are better but I haven't read them.

Yeah the books are far better. The movie was toned down dramatically for sensitivity issues but apparently it was not enough. The flop was mainly due to different religious organizations organizing boycotts. If I was the director I would have remained true to the books then it might have had a chance of becoming the next LoTR franchise. It is simply another example of organised religion destroying yet something else - just like in the movie books.

O:)

I mean seriously, if you don't stay true to the books you WILL NEVER have as successful a franchise as LotR. Ahh, the stupidity!

Oh heh point taken :) Ok, but LotR was still very close to the books, a lot closer than almost any other movie based on a book.

And Luckman, i was more hyperbolic than sarcastic. Sowwy if I dissaboint you  :pout:

WoW bear mount

They got bears in WoW, and look how successful that is! It must be cause and effect! We want bears because... well... bears are awesome. Medeval weapons are also awesome. Put the two together, and voila! Pure awesome.

And as far as accuracy in LoTR... first isn't to bad, third is WAY off. Although oddly enough, the thing that annoys me most is the seige of Gondor chapter, in which they put trebuchets on the walls and catapults on the ground... anyone who read the books knows it was the other way around. Trebuchets have high firing arcs as the orc seige weapons were described, had a range out of bowshot, which is the entire purpose of trebuchets, and the catapults on the walls of Minas Tirith were unable to hurl far enough to stop the orcish trebuchets, meaning it was the other way around... Not to mention, trebuchet counterweights are heavy enough and swing around enough to litterally shred whatever wall or tower they are put on. [/end rambling]

Wait, damn! I had totally forgotten about the third movie! Seriously, must have blocked it away or something. Yeah, that one had a whole bunch of annoying differences from the books. But to be honest, I haven't seen the films or read the books in years.

I still want to have Battle Cattle

You should read the books. They are very good, and I should think that people looking back will rate them as literary classics on the level of LoTR or Narnia.
