Colonizing bonuses

When you colonize a planet and and have 3 options to choose from are they just planetary bonuses for percentages, and how do they work?

Example:

I choose the evil option that reads that I get 46% research bonus. Does that mean that any research facility I place there increases its abiltiy by 46%? If so, is there a place somewhere on the details, summary, or other screen for that planet where I can see this bonus applied or at least lets me know it there? I have not found it.

Is this how this works?  Sole Soul will get to this question first I believe.

Yes, all research labs on that particular world get a 46% bonus.  This bonus is ADDED to Tech capital, Research Coordination Center, etc..   You can see that on the Planet Details screen.  Look on the right-center side

Cool.

Does this only affect percentage based buildings or would a research building that produced 10 research points be worth 14.6?

It doesn't affect percentage based buildings, only labs.   So a 10rp lab would produce 14.6rp, and if you buit a Tech Capital there, the same lab would produce 24.6rp (not 29.2).  Another way to confirm this is to go into the "Planetary Details" screen.  If you build the Tech Capital, the planet research bonus will be 146%.

I found what you were talking about on the details screen. Wow, all this time I have been playing this game I have never noticed that. I only went to that screen to turn off auto-build upgrades and rename planets in the past.

Thanx for the help, this totally changes the way I will create research planets. Before I really only made research planets out of ones that had bonus tiles.

It changed the way I play, too.   You can check out a Quick Tip I dropped off, here:

I rename my colonies so that I know what the bonuses are on them just by looking at it.

Also, when I discovered that the research bonuses only add (not multiply) together with the Tech Capital/Res. Coord. Centers, I figured out that those improvements most likely should NOT go on your planets with 46% Research bonus.  Use the tile for another Research Lab instead.  It's like having a 46% bonus tile, on every tile.

Cool, thanx again.

I will also apply this same logic to planets that give me a percentage to starships, as I will assume it works the same way.

I generally regard Starship bonus planets as multiplying with their industry.   After all, the more ships that planet can put out, the more often you will get the bonus.
