HS Football is No More Important Than HS Soccer!

Stupid Hinton......

I know that I life, and I'm sure we all do there's always that same old saying....."Lifes not fair!" And of coures it isn't, but sometimes somethings should be able to be fair when they are very capable of being so. I know that you're not always going to get what you want in life or in what ever for that very matter. But when it comes to sports, I feel it should be different.

Our highschool's football team seems to me to be the most valued thing at the school. It gets all kinds of money from no where to help pay for supposively equipment, the field, etc. Which I'm sure it does. But come on....you don't need to keep buying new stuff every single year. And they treat the football field like it's meant for gods and goddesses to play on it. And our football players are treated just as if they were gods. Like 95% of the guys that play football at my school are popular. Some of them are nice and not snobs like the rest. I have friends on the team that are popular, but not snobby. But still.....they're all treated like gods. They all get special treatment from teachers. It's like they can do everything wrong, but they never get in trouble for it. I mean even the cheerleaders get away with things. Like for instance....the clothes they wear to school....some of it isn't appropriate. But if someone like me wore something too revealing or w/e, I'd get in trouble. But no they wouldn't. That's what I hate about our school. Ugh. It frustrates me.

I had a talk the other day on the way home on my bus with and 8th grade football player. He asked me why I disliked the head football coach. Here's my reasoning. He thinks football is more important than anyother sport. He only wants football at the school. He wants all the money for his team. He tried to get rid of the old hs softball/basball field that pony league practices on. And in which I play on the pony team. His excuse was that they needed more practice room. No! Sorry, you don't. Then soccer players may only go on the football field if they have a game, no pracitce or anything on it.(we don't have a soccer field, just the fb field that we transform into a soccer field on game nights) They think we're going to tear up their field....yeah right! They'll let a cow run on it at some kick off festival, but they don't want soccer players on it! Ok, wth is up with that?!?!

Then you have the band. I'm in the band along with Brandon, Shaun, Alex, Sam, Stacey, and Peter, which are all fellow members of JU. The band hardly ever gets thanked for being a fb games an playing halftime shows. My friend Bobbi, who is also in band, well her dad bought her a video of last years games thinking that they'd have halftime shows on there. WRONG!! They didn't. No suprise though. Then the other day on the announcement channel at school they put ou ta big thanks to the student cheering section that goes to the fb games. But nothing for the band. That ticks me off big time! I'm kinda happy now though because at the playoff game this coming Saturday, I get my own little one person cheering section!! Yay!! Thanks Andy!! I love you so much!(in a non-sexual/gf way, take it more of as a sister. lol.)

It doesn't matter what sport you play. May it be Golf, swimming, tennis, bowling, basketball, volleyball, band, soccer, etc. None of your teams are any important than another. Even football. It is not more important than any other sport!

I have no particular issues with the football coach at my former high school. However, that did not stop my friends and I (all of whom were on the soccer team) to come up with a theory:

The athletic department went out and purchased a gorilla. They then shaved the gorilla, dressed it in simple, base colored cotton shirts and kakhi pants, and gave it a name. They then made it head football coach.

Its amazing how many questions that one theory answered.

Sorry to tell you this but:

In the USA football rules, in most every high school that has it, basketball is second, then baseball or Softball, the rest don't seem to count unless they make it to the playoffs. It's not fair but, it's the truth.

As far as being in the band goes, it's a shame that they didn't include the halftime shows and you are getting screwed a little there. Most schools that I have went to football games at do a great deal to promote the band.

Philomedy~ thanks! Yeah, it really isn't fair that football seems to take more of a liking than soccer or anything else.

TasT~Well sorry, but football ruling is your opinion just as well as soccer is mine. I don't care if everyone else thinks football is better. I sure as heck don't. I mean come on, soccer players don't even need to wear pads to play. And soccer has more injuries than football does. But yeah they do need to pay more respects to our band. Glad you liked that part. lol.

That's not an opinion. It's the truth football is the money generator. Think about it how many local businesses sponsor your soccer team? probably one or two if any. However how many people are supporting the football ball team? I would guess that there are many businesses as well as a booster cluib with many active members.

When the football team plays the stands are mostly full but, when the soccer team plays is most;y relatives and few if any real "soccer" fans.

If I had my way about it Baseball woudl be the big sport. That's my opinion, but not the truth.

Actually, it's not just his opinion, but most of the USA. I mean, look at the weekly numbers on MNF and look at the weekly number (if you can find them) for the MLS. Even the World Cup games don't compare to the average CBS broadcast of football. It doesn't even rate next to college football. That's the reality. You may believe that soccer is better, but it's not more popular. Viewers = Popular = Dollars (and that proves the opinion that football rules in the USA).

I mean come on, soccer players don't even need to wear pads to play. And soccer has more injuries than football does

Shin guards are pads.

Soccer players aren't allowed to touch each other, unless they are going for the ball! And then it's usually incidental contact. You don't see collisions as often or intense as you do in football. I mean, if you wanted to compare US Football against Aussie football, then I'd be with you. Those guys take some pad-less lumps. But soccer players? Please. Many of those 'injuries' are just acts to get cards. I don't dispute that soccer players are great athletes. It takes a lot of athleticism to run around for 90 minutes. But, they don't wear a lot of pads for a reason. Football players do wear full pads for a reason, too.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to come down on soccer players here. Like I said, they are great athletes. And it seems that your team is getting the extremely short end of the stick here. I'm just trying to rebut some of the points your making.

I wiil say this, though. Americans generally don't want to spend 90 minutes of their lives watching a game that has the chance of producing no winner. Hockey gets away with this because there is always the chance of fights (appeals to the lowest common denominator).

Well, we did get some awesome treatment last game.....the designated "audience cheering section" did that cool little tunnel...that was cool....anyway, no matter what, the football team has some elevated status. I'm not sure why, but I think it has to do with the only publicity our school ever gets....

Yay!! Thanks Andy!! I love you so much

I love you too Andy......not in a gay way mind you....maybe you should put in a word for me with the crazy audience section...how 'bout a little shoutout to me, eh?..heh heh

Well, I've got nothing else to say....I guess the band is doomed to a life in the shadows...as well as with the lesser sports, but we'll see who the bitches are when we're selling those Easter Eggs again....mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha*breath*hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...whew...that one hurt...

Sorry, but that's still people's opinions! It is a person's opinion if they like football and if they all think football is better.

Shin guards are pads.

yes, true. But still the shin is a delicate bone. Football players have a whole bunch of them. And trust me, on my team against the other girls teams there is a whole bunch of contact. Even some punches are thrown! No lie.

I love you too Andy......not in a gay way mind you

Yeah, sure Shaun! lol j/k.

Yeh, maybe we'll get Melinda to put in a word for ya, eh?
