Sits in the forums doing what???

So I was wondering - what is the deal with Idlebot. He/She/It sits in the forums, never says anything and has no game history.
Is anyone else curious about this, or able to shed light on why idlebot sits there?
(I'm bored while I wait for someone to log in to play, and idlebot is there and doing nothing...)

Now that is funny I just went on to ICO and there is idlebot and idlebot2

So it this a copycat user, or really SD or IC playing with us (even though they HAVE denied it...) Surely same person can't be logged in twice (unless they got 2 CD keys and 2 comps....)

So I was just talking to Blair in ICO lobby. Idlebot was there.
I put my latest conspiracy theory to him.
"Idlebot is something to do with testing of entrechment". He laughed and said no.
And then suggested it was an alien AI invasion or something.... Or some weird virus even....
But since he didn't worry about it - what does that mean. ICO cannot be used to infect anything, so he is not worried - just laughing at the aliens. Or he knows the truth about it, but won't say...
Blair is right. Idlebot has nothing to do with Ironclad. We see her/him when we show up just like you do 
Hmm - Craig and Blair in on this together??? Idlebot and Idlebot2???
What are the chances of that???
And who was it who sent the message from the ICO Server???
I've seen this exact same predicament on the Homeworld 2 server (before my computer fried!!!
)
there were two "people" on the server many times(it may actually have been Idlebot, i forgot the name of the two)and they were always on the server(sometimes i saw one or both of them leave, but then immediately come back). I ignored them, thinking they were ordinary bots.
if it is not a bot (a monitor of the chatrooms), then what is it!!??

Well if IC wanted to kill the fun they'd compare the cd key attached to the account with Stardock to see what forum name they go by, in case it's one of the regulars here.
Don't give them any ideas, don't want to ruin the cover of... The Great and Powerful Idlebot!

Idlebot is NSA.
It had it's roots earlier, but in 2003 the DHS began in earnest to tap game chat by proxy, trying to have at least one feed on each large game lobby. Games with realistic FPS or RTS elements were singled out because theoretically 4th world elements could use the chat to send coded messages and the games themselves to practice attacks they would later take to RL. Idlebot is rooted in a network which scans tens of thousands of key words and names, when one triggers a live operator is notified and takes control.

Actually, I've always assumed you worked for them too - no mere "human" could have accrued so much karma 
I'm not in my house, so that solves that.

In school one of my projects was to make a simple IRC-like chat program. However, my program had a slight bug that caused the server to crash when no one was on it. The solution was what could be called an idlebot 
Of course, i excpect that Stardock has higher quality standards 
Plus the fact that idlebot didn't exist for ages in 1.05 AND sometimes doesn't exist in the lobby (but usually does)
