Don't come off so short man. The devs are pretty receptive. :pout:

Overchargethis, you may have pre-ordered but check your bank account -- the funds won't actually be deducted untill Entrenchment comes out, they are all still there.  The most that may have happened is your bank put a hold on the money for a few days when SD checked to see if you really could pay with that card.

No intention of being short. Apologies if it came off that way. Original post changed a little.

Overcharge, you can't have prepaid, they aren't charging people yet!  That was the point of my post :P

Overchargethis, i knew what you meant.  Sadly Ican't answer your question but I would like to see this question answered :)

Sorry to bust everyone's bubble, but the funds have already been deducted from my account. So when do we get the beta?

Busterzperson, the funds are only deducted when it is released. Its likely you're looking at something else.

Sorry we don't have a date for the beta release. We aren't going to give quite as much advanced warning this time due to the negative feedback when we had to push it ahead last time.

Understandable, Craig Fraser, but le sigh. I hate when forum trolls always ruin a good thing :(

I understand, Craig. Sorry a minority of the posters here forced you to change how you provide info on your upcoming releases. Please let us know as soon as your business model allows.

probably better this way. in this industry, pressure can cost you enourmously and the best way to avoid pressure is to avoid fixed dates (externally at least).

another example. last week the expansion to the sequel of a very nice action-rpf was released. the sequel was already bugged as hell, as was last week's release. but it had to get out to make it for quarter sales numbers. *sigh* they'll never learn.

incidentally ... oh my, that would lead really off topic, how I could talk and talk ...

anyways, hopefully we do get a heads up before beta starts. starting impulse and suddenly seeing it would be a nice surprise, but some people have plans and might need to organise accordingly to have ample time.

As Blair said, it's likely your looking at something else -- depending on how recently the pre-order went through, you might just be looking at a freeze on the funds involved.  Apparently a number of banks will lock down the money involved for 24-48 hours when they recieve the request to see if you can pay (don't know the fancy financial / technical terms, sorry).

You could do what I always do when my girlfreind asks when I will be done playing games. Say "Soon" or "Eventually" Hehehe. Definitive times always get me in trouble too so I feel your pain Craig Fraser.

Don't suppose you could give us an appetizer Craig such as a screenshot of the Advent or Vasari Starbases huh?

or a new video?

I do have an appetizer that went up last night! Look at the dev journals and see if you can find it in Blair's last post :)

I believe this is what is being alluded to...

Yeah, combat is being changed to D&D style. This ship obviously has a damage range of 5d6.

I would have guessed it was an advent ship at first because of the silvery shine and glowing center but its vasari.

Magic glowing dice will now materialize during every battle. Furthermore, we've decided to narrate each battle with text in real-time at the top left. In order to optimize we've also removed ship movement - opting for a cool stop motion style scenes that cut in and out. The level of suspense will be increased dramatically as players plan their moves in between frames.

Do we choose ship feats and ability scores, or are all those random?

Come on!  There is no mistaking the beauty of the evil Vasari empire!

'here, take my +1 axe' classic. next thing would be that our capships start out blank and we can select which class and race the are and what size and colour they would be and then they'd develop into vastly different ships.

Looks like Craig needs some attention, guys..

LOL.

Anyhow, the disappearing dice are new TEC vessels that unlock after researching the tradeport upgrade. It's called the casino upgrade. Gauss turrets and hangars aren't the only orbitals that can be improved.
