[Fixed]Out of Sync problem.

I haven't got to test it yet but decided to remove the post since some folks put in some extra time to get this issue squashed.

Thanks

Izzdan, I'll be happy to play with you using my special sync tracking build. I need someone who can recreate it consistantly.

I was personally playing for about 8 hours today with people to try and nail it down but in that entire time we were unable to make it happen. And these were all megagames with 8-10 people and all sorts of units and crazy things happening.

To be honest, we haven't personally seen a sync bug in over 6 months of regular gameplay and methodical testing but due to reports like yours we believe one still exists.

Shoot me an email at [email protected] or meet me on the Sins IRC channel so we can arrange a game with my special settings. I would love to play with you so we can find this once and for all.

If there is anyone else who consistantly gets sync bugs, feel free to get a hold of me too. The more data we get the better.

I'll shoot you an email but wanted to reply here as well.  Unless you're not paying attention when you and whoever you are with are playing.  Its impossible not to notice it. Best way to test it me and my brother found out is to do a map where you and another player are close to one another then you and the other guy go from planet to planet and eventually what you see on your screen will go out of whack with the other guy.  We use voice communication so we are talking the entire time on what is going on.  Sure enough each game his game goes off to another do what it wants as if I am no longer playing.

I have no replays to post, but I've noticed that this error seems to almost always occur between specific players and is usually accompanied by lots of lag. I played 2 or 3 games with one guy and we desynced in every game. (I don't think the problem was me though, since I haven't had this problem with others.)

i can definatly vouche for the desync problem, i noticed it happened only between certain players but it happened everytime they played. after playing tons of game to try and figure it out ourselves ive personally concluded it also has a lot to do with the host. Id hate to have to black list players just cuz of programing issues if you want a list of players names that ive seen dysnc more than 3 times in a row maybe they can help you recreate the problem. ill be monitoring these forums untill sins is playable again

It already takes 7 months for a single patch to get released this game is basically unplayable against other players.

I hope your problems get resolved, as you can see Ironclad and Stardock are both very responsive. However, I just wanted to point out that 1.1 was the sixth patch released.  There's not many games out there that receive that level of support, and certainly not this long after being released.

I've rarely had de-syncs but when I do it's usually with people who complain that it always happens to them.

I can relate.  I play on a LAN, and a friend and I could play games successfully with no problem.  However, a 3rd individual, whenever he'd join, we'd get desync problems and minidumps.  Of course, this was several patches ago so I don't know if our particular issue has already been addressed.

If I play on a LAN I do not get this issue its only via either direct IP connection or on the network servers provided via multi player.  Either way its frustrating because after a while once you do realize that your game is out of whack its basically two individuals playing the same map but a totally different game.

I appreciate the help from the mods and hope we can get this issue squashed.  I love the game its just this small issue thats causing problems for us.

Thanks guys

Saw Blair in game a little earlier tonight, he was working franticaly on the desync problem while fending off a small horde of questioning gamers.  Kinda funny... But good to see them working on it, I'm sure after countless hours of digging through debug logs they will find whats causing it.

Blair, I'll be watching for your post / report on what's happening with it!  Thanks again for the "visible" support, it's nice to know there's at least one man behind the mirror.

Must say Blair is the Backbone and should be congratulated on his tiresome efforts as well all who have contributed in fixing these nasty lil bugs.I was so close  in giving up on online gaming as this is my first experience,.Afterall i am a consumer, and have a right to have an opinion both good and bad and therefore  do so give accolades of appreciation to the team at ICO.

  Bloody good stuff guys :)

I appreciate the thanks but we've got a full team of people working on various stuff. I'm just the one who talks a lot. For this particular bug, Jamie deserves a ton of credit for his sync logging code among other things :)

Don't think he's ever been seen on these forums, at least not since launch :P So most people wouldn't know who he is :(

Hey there's an idea, maybe for Entrenchment you guys can do a "Get to know IC" dev journal, where everyone from the team pitches in and writes a short paragraph about what they do. There's going to be a lot of cross-over since I know you guys are pretty flexible and don't really have "set" roles, but still ;)

Edit: Especially since you recently got a new guy that even us old timers haven't met ;)

I second the proposal "get to know IC"
