Oooooooh, I think I love this news: The Burrowing of the Bushies

It happens every time a president leaves office: Some of his political appointees don't want to go, so they "burrow in" to the civil service.

There are relatively benign reasons for burrowing in, such as financial security. But there is also the potential for ideological mischief-making.

So the question we ask ourselves today is: Are Bush and Cheney loyalists entrenching themselves into the federal bureaucracy in order to make it difficult for their successors to roll back their policies?

The burrowing-in of the Bushies has been underway in various agencies for some time now, and there are signs that as a result, the Obama administration could face resistance from within on some key areas.

So, after 8 years of Bush policies, with several of those years somewhat blocked by Democrats controlling Congress or having been left burrowed in by the prior administration (aka the Clinton administration), W. is going to be leaving behind a few surprises and stacking the decks a bit for the incoming Obama administration.

Between Obama picking over members of the old Clinton administration and being left with a bunch of burrowed in Bushies that change that was promised should be really interesting to watch happening, or should I say watch being attempted to happen as it may be darned sluggish in happening.

Politics is such a dirty game.  Fun, but dirty
