I'd like to nominate Fences

I'd like to nominate Fences as one of the best desktop customization applications to come out in the last 15 years. It has all the qualities of a true winner: It is useful, addressing a true need; it is effective; it is unobtrusive; it is well-designed; and it is intuitive and user-friendly.

Well done on yet another great app.

I look forward to seeing it in its final form on Vista and, soon enough, on Windows 7.

Kudos.

Well maybe I would agree with a very good productivity tool, but not sure about best dekstop customization application.

I don't have icons on my desktop because I use Object Dock, and Right Click to keep it clean.

Thank you!! :D Glad you love it, I've been wanting to finish and share this app for years :) I can only imagine the features will get better and better, and I can certainly promise the unobtrusiveness/simplicity/no-bloat will not change. Thanks again for the kind words

I've been waiting for it to be shared since I first read about it :P ... I don't have any desktop icons, but I definitely could use some. This little thing seems to sort out everything I hate about the concept of icons on the desktop. :)

I wouldn't call it desktop customization... Desktop enhancement seems more appropriate. :)

It's a tough choice...especially with the newest feature (tease!).

Grrrrrr.....don't make me choose!

The best thing I like about it is, the double click on the desktop to make them go away.

Excellent. How important do you think is the feature that you can leave some things visible always? Not super important? or?

Here's an idea;

double click - remove all that's not marked "sticky", triple click - remove all icons. It makes sense as triple click is a "select all"-thing.

if you dont like sticky icons, just don't mark them as such and original functionality is preserved..

... just my few cents... Suggesting features before even trying the software... silly me. :P
