Battlefield tile

Can the game mark out tile where *great* battle had been fought as "Battlefield" tile.

The victor of the battle gain extra bonus when he fight again in the same tile, like morale and efficiency.

whereas, the loser will suffer lower morale when he fight at the same tile again.

The "battlefield" tile can also be the target location for random quest.

e.g.

-Help poor old lady/sistor/wife to find the news of son/brother/husband

-find artifect lose in battle

-solve some mistery of "friendly fire"

etc.

they would have to be pretty epic battles and is positions that a fight can not be avoided, such as a gate or river tile. If it's implemented i think there should also be a boost for cities (higher moral for defenders or something)

I think allowing a player to choose to place a monument after a battle might be better.   Maybe some additional area of control and a bonus based on which side won (attacker/defender) and what troops were at the battle.  Enemies could come desecrate the monument to get rid of its influence and bonus.  It would have to have some criteria of each side being a certain size or someone could just spam a bunch of monuments which would defeat the whole idea. Here's an historical example as an illustration of the concept:

Battle of Agincourt monument

+1 to attack for defending English archers

-1 defense for attacking French cavalry

Most likely it's too complex but it is fun to think about the possibilities.

Excellent idea, and I personally like the idea of the momument/tile to be in the same exact spot as the battle, instead of choosing it.  Of course, that's just one man's opinion.  It could end up being a very cool feature if a map features nature chokepoints and these epic battles are taking place around the same few tiles.

I'm more open to the tile idea, rather than the monument as I'd like to think my troops have a sense of history and don't need some marker just to fire them up.  That and if a monument got descrated by the enemy, I would think that anger my troops and make them fight harder, instead of losing their advantages.

If morale was a big feature of this game (and I hope it is), I think that should be the most likely bonus from these battle tiles.  I can understand how it would give troops a better morale to be fighting on the spot of some past battle, but how is that going to make them shoot arrows more accurately?

Sounds like a cool idea to have the game remember an epic battle with a monument, and I suppose a general morale bonus of some sort would be appropriate.  Probably don't want it to try and do a specific unit type bonus based on what happened, though.

I'd like the monument, at least, as I like the game to reflect that important things have happened.

I remember i game implementing a such feature (I don't remember its name)

Epic battle are symbolised by crossed swords and putting the mouse over gave us more information like When, Who were the 2 sides involved, their leaders and the outcome.

That would be an awesome. Imagine that your map change with time. Not only through powerful spells but also with battles. And why not burned land after a tough fight that ravaged the land? Or tiles laid into desert?

Maybe it would wise to cross the Spoils of war & Battlefield tile.

Players can investigate former battlefields for leftover loots with sometime nasty surprises awating them. Like a golem that regenerate itself since a battle that happened a long time ago.

Left over loots would depends of the extra meterials no caried over and the random events monsters would depend of the nature of the defeated troops.

It's like treating every former battlefield like a new dungeon.

@vieuxchat

+1 the map must reflect the overuse of spells.

Yep I've always asking where do come those items we found in dungeons?

And why not losing some items (even the best ones) after a hard fight. You can't always loot everything. And a too powerful item lost in a battle would slowly corrupt land (or replenish it, or anything else that would be cool to see in a game)

you could also lose some items even if you've won.
