Economic lessons learned from GalCiv

This is more a question at Stardock, but if anyone else whants to disscuss it please post.

-I was wanting to know what lessons you learned from GalCiv(1+2)? More importantly, how will the economic system compare to that of GalCiv2? Now I'm a huge fan of both GalCiv 1 and 2, but I was always a big critic of how the economic system worked. I never liked how you had to pay for every unit of production/research. It always seemed to me that it defeated the purpose of getting a large production bonus when you would just have to make 2 more planets that were economic based to cover the cost.

Well, first off, instead of price based production, you'll need to supply the resources to your production facilities, so you'll need resources, but I don't think that production will require much cash. I don't know how it's going to work, but it sounds great. Read Brad's post "redefining 4x economics" in the dev journals section.

I'd love to see a Post-Mortem on GalCiv 2 and see how those lessons learned might improve Elemental.

Well with 2.0 out now and it being the last major update to the franchise until GC3 let's hope we get on soon.

I just got some issues with my account fixed up, so I haven't had the chance to play 2.0 just yet.
