This is completely the wrong area to ask this, but I don't see a right area.
Does this forum software have options like viewing threaded, newest first, etc? I can't find anything that would allow me to set that up.
No, these forums do not offer those options at this time. Sorry.
The forum software was created by Stardock, so I assume while it might not have as many user-visible features, it meets their needs better than some other popular software out there. Or it would be too expensive to convert.
FYI- if you are logged in and view a thread, the software does mark it as read for you, so that if you view that specific forum again the icon on the left doesn't appear as "new" (which is designated by a much more bold blue icon instead of a faded blue one).
Personally, I miss the feature to watch threads, be notified if there is a response to your post/reply, and then some sorting features like you mentioned previously.
What I really miss is when a thread would 'jump' to the new unread posts, rather than making you sort through the entire thread to find the right point.
Cool! Dang I wish I'd known that was there earlier. (Oh, and I'm not so sure its based on cookies... or if it is, its only so-so useful for me becasue I have more than one computer I browse on)
I confirm that it is based on cookies. It is one of the best feature of this forum since it remember when is the last time your read that particular thread, and not only your last visit. So you can read only some threads, and next time you log in it will remember that you haven't read the others.
And it keeps the state between various forums. If your read a thread on forums.elemental.com that also appears on forums.impulsedriven.com, it will be marked as read in both forums. Very useful for threads from the category PC Gaming or impulse 
Zubaz- You just got some Karma from me for pointing this out. I'd vote for that little icon to be a bit bigger since it's sooo useful!
He just needs to give us his address. Among the vast array of various spams he will get, I'm sure *someone* will send a bottle of good booze to help cope with the situation.
