Shards

I have two and a half questions about shards.

Will it be possible to exert influence over multiple shards of differeing types?

Will shards be treated in a Disciples 2 fashion where they are clamed and the magic from them is a resource? If not how then?

Maybe they are more like the Nodes in Master of Magic.

There you could control multiple typs of Nodes.

Fall from heaven 2, a civ4 mod, use magic nodes in an interesting way : the magic you can research is bound to which kind of nodes you control, and the powerful spells need several nodes of the same kind.

The interesting twist is that at the start all the nodes are neutral. And a wizard can build a node amplifer that will give a kind to the node. Once done it can't be reverted. The wizard can only creat a node of a kind that is already controlled. So the only way to learn new way is to build some expensive buildings that gives you new kind of magic.

At the race creation you could also choose magic "affinity", a bit like in MoM.

The Fall from Heaven mod sounds nice. Maybe I will try it once.

But as I understand the shards in Elemental they will probably belong to one specific type of magic.

The world will have several types of shards of which there are duplicates.

Controlling those shards gives you mana of a specific type.  This mana is then used to cast spells.

So, more shards = more mana, which would then allow you to cast those types of spells more often or save up mana for "big stuff"?

Your response also begs the question- what are the types of shards?  Just the different mana types, or something else?

Will there be the battle to take control of the nodes? That was one of the more fun parts of Master of Magic, I thought. An early opportunity to have some fun against phantom beasts and gorgons and the like. Actually, I always thought it would be fun to be able to recruit an appropriate elemental garrison for a node once you'd captured it.
