I've given the original post a rethought . I originally thought 'time for a failboat because , well , it's fail' but I now think he may have a point in a limited manner , if you look at it a certain way. It all depends on what you consider to be 'WC'

The ads are external. Anyone who buys poltical banner ads would get them posted on anything that has politcal in it.. You see it on Youtube all the time. Stardock had limited control of it. So that premise is fail. BTW,So much for the Liberal Internet

However:

If you consider WC to be a 'Community' ( just WC , not the skinning community as a whole' ) I would disagree with WC being anti-Obama . The opinions expressed on the variety of threads on the subject were on both sides.

If you consider WC( and it's associated sites , since we just can't get away from JoeUser ) fourm moderation and such , I would think that there definately IS a anti-Obaama bias to an extent . There have been threads left open ( Island_Dog's for example ) that now appear to have devolved to a gigantic 'Lets see who the liberals are so the conservatives can badmouth them' troll. Ask yourself , would an Obama troll tread have lasted that long?

I don't expect it to change. And I'm not about to 'toss my toys out the pram' . I'm just asking that instead of blind 'no it's not ' that people look at it critically.

I know a few folks that instead of using WC use the RSS feeds for forums that interest them.  That might be an option until the politc thread die down some.

Excuse me!  What exactly am I "taking"?  Do I get the free monthly skins?  Do I get the unlimited downloads?  Do I get discounts on Master skins?  The only "benefit" I am getting is supressing obtrusive ads.  Are you going to call me a thief for fast-forwarding through TV commercials too?

How is this person posting without subscribing, or am I confused?  If we pay to be ad free and to use the forums then WC should block the ticks when found.  IMHO

Just another of my humble opinions.  Can we please move on from the political threads and let the new government do what it can to fix the cluster f*#k we have now.  I for one am writing  senator and reps about things such as the bailout.  One voice means nothing but 3M could make a big difference.

Do you not understand the concept of ad supported websites? One of the benifits I pay for on this site is to not see them. If you don't pay , you see the ads. You don't like that idea, please disconnect your PC from the Internet and get a refund from your ISP, because ad supported sites are the norm .

*shrug*  The ads on the page help pay for the operation of the site and offset the costs incurred by members of the community who do not/are not able to subscribe to support the site more directly.

There is nothing in the terms saying you have to pay.  But there's nothing in the terms saying we won't make use of web adverts to generate revenue to run the site.

They might be the norm, but that doesn't mean I have to put up with obtrusive and nagging advertisements.

Edit: I do not find WinCustomize subscription of value (unlike the ObjectDesktop subscription which I purchased).  I am more than content with the limitations of not subscribing, aside from the ads.  They waste my bandwidth, are an eyesore, and are completely out of context.  "Ad-supported" revenue is just that, supported; not the primary source of income.  In any case, this whole discussion is moot since most ads generate revenue whether or not they are viewed.

According to the scriptures, he will be a well liked , elected official. Maybe I should not have gotten into this here. I'm not sure this is the place to get into one's religious beliefs.
